Claim: A video shows a “51-foot-long snake” that was found in Talagang, in Punjab’s Chakwal district, and later shot dead.
Fact: The video is old and not from Pakistan, let alone Talagang.
On 18 and 20 July 2026, social media users shared a video of a giant snake crossing a road with the following caption:
“کلرکہار ۔گزشتہ رات تلہ گنگ کے ایریا میں 51 فٹ لمبا سانپ اچانک آ گیا جسکو فائرنگ کر کے مارا گیا
[Kallar Kahar – A 51-foot-long snake suddenly appeared in the Talagang area last night and was shot and killed.]”

Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check did not find any verifiable news reports by reputable Pakistani media outlets about the said incident.
We reverse-searched keyframes from the viral video and found that it is not from Pakistan at all, let alone Talagang.
The earliest instance we found was on the Indian YouTube channel Voice of Borli, where it was uploaded (archive) on 4 March 2022, with the title, “Giant Snake | Indian Stone Python | Viral Video”.
On 5 March 2022, it was also shared (archive) on the Indian YouTube channel SIN VLOGS💚, which said the snake was spotted in Karwar, a city in India’s Karnataka state.
Many users and outlets claimed it was from other places, such as Cat Island in The Bahamas, Kerala or Nabarangpur in India, and Huejutla municipality in Mexico.
In a 13 March 2022 article, Kompas.com investigated if the snake was spotted in Bojonegoro, Indonesia and spoke to reptile researcher Dr Amir Hamidy at the National Research and Innovation Agency’s (BRIN) Biology Research Center.
Dr Hamidy said that according to the viral videos, the reptile “does not appear to be a real snake”, the publication wrote. “When I watched that video, if you look closely, the snake moving on top doesn’t move the way it should,” the researcher added, referring to the strange manner in which it can be seen crossing the road.
However, we also came across an 21 March 2022 article on the Bangla-language page of BOOM, an Indian outlet accredited by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). It cited reports by SV5TV NEWS — now deleted — and ETV Bharat from 6 March 2022 and concluded that the 12-foot-long snake was spotted in the “Hanakona village of Karwar in Uttara Kannada district” of India’s Karnataka state.
Soch Fact Check, therefore, concludes that the claim the snake was spotted in Talagang, Pakistan, is false.
Virality
Soch Fact Check found the video posted dozens of times on Facebook.
It has also been falsely linked to Kallar Kahar, which is close to Talagang, Margalla Hills in Islamabad, Sargodha, Karachi, and Lahore.
The clip was also shared on Instagram, at least twice, and once on Threads.
Conclusion: The video is old and not from Pakistan, let alone Talagang.
