Claim: A picture shows a woman sitting in a police station after being arrested for allegedly sexually abusing young boys.

Fact: The picture is AI-generated. Furthermore, there are no verifiable news reports about such an arrest being made in Karachi.

On 22 May 2026, different Facebook users posted an image of a woman sitting inside what appears to be a police station, alongside the following claim:

“ڪراچي ۾ نوجوان ڇوڪر کي اغوا ڪري ريپ ڪندڙ عورت گرفتار
[Woman arrested for kidnapping and raping young boy in Karachi]”

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check reverse-searched the image but only found it rehashed in various social media posts. We did not find any credible reports published by reputable media outlets about the same either.

We observed some tell-tale signs of content generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The display on the left side of the image features the text “پولیس اسٹیشن سنڈ پولیس [Police Station Sindh Police]”. However, the word “سنڈ” is written incorrectly; it should be “سنڌ” in Sindhi or “سندھ” in Urdu.

Moreover, the man just behind the accused woman is missing his right eye and the text on the board behind the police officer standing on the right is illegible.

Soch Fact Check ran the photo in Hive Moderation to see if it is AI-generated.

According to Hive Moderation, the image is 99.9% likely to be AI-generated or deepfake content, but, specifically, noted a 99.6% chance that it was created using Gemini 3 — Google’s “most intelligent model yet” — among different models.

Taking cues from this, we checked if the visual contains SynthID, an imperceptible watermark embedded in all content generated by Google’s AI tools. To do so, we ran it through a dedicated detector, which currently works through Gemini in Pakistan.

Screenshots of the results from Hive Moderation (L) and SynthID Detector (R), which confirmed with “very high” confidence that the photo was made with Google AI

The SynthID Detector confirmed with “very high” confidence that the photo was made with Google AIl.

We have also reached out to Karachi Police for a comment; this fact-check will be updated if and when we receive a response.

Therefore, Soch Fact Check concludes that the image is not real and was made using AI.

Virality

Soch Fact Check found that the image has been shared in dozens of posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

The top 15 Facebook posts that gained the most significant traction had more than 13,000 reactions.

On X (formerly Twitter), at least four posts were viewed close to 2,000 times.

Conclusion: The picture is AI-generated. Furthermore, there are no verifiable news reports about such an arrest being made in Karachi.
