Claim: The government has announced a plan to provide a monthly allowance of PKR 29,000 to unmarried women.
Fact: No such allowance has been allocated or announced by the Government of Pakistan,. The claim circulated on social media around the same time as other unsubstantiated posts on social media regarding an allowance for unmarried women by the Kuwaiti government. Local posts making this claim imply the Pakistan government made this announcement.
The social media post, which was shared by @mnnewsoffical on Instagram, implies that the Pakistani government has announced a monthly allowance for women. The post uses visuals of Pakistani women as well as several 5000 rupee bills to depict the allowance, and claims that the government will be providing PKR 29,000 each month to unmarried women to support them financially and socially. It specifies that the allowance is meant to support women who are not financially independent or stable in hopes of alleviating their struggles. The image further elaborates mentioning that details regarding the verification process and distribution have not yet been shared.
is as follows:

Screenshot of the Instagram post claiming the government has announced a monthly allowance of PKR 29,400 for unmarried women.
The post caption and image text, which are originally in Urdu, state the following:
“[Translation]: The government has announced a plan to provide a monthly allowance of Rs 29,000 to unmarried women. According to officials, the move is aimed at providing financial support to economically weak and destitute women.
Sources say that a formal system of registration and verification of eligible women will be developed under the scheme, while the eligibility criteria and application procedure will be issued soon.
According to officials, the move is part of an effort to expand the scope of social security and promote economic independence of women.“
The post does not overtly name or specify which “government” but implies that it is about the Pakistani government, in particular. However, it does not attribute the announcement to any official government department or official source.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check found that the claim is false. An extensive search for official news sources did not yield any results. We then browsed government websites and platforms of relevant departments, such as The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety, and the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Official Portal, among others, to verify this claim. However, we found that the Pakistani government has not announced any such allowance.
In fact, a keyword search led to posts online, such as this, this, and this, referring to a previous claim about the Kuwaiti government that Soch Fact Check recently debunked. The fact-check clarified that it is not blanket allowance even for Kuwaiti women and explained the stipulations, processes, and conditions of the Kuwaiti government’s policies.
Interestingly, the timing of the post being fact-checked aligns with these misleading claims that were shared on February 27, 2026. Other claims explicitly mentioned the Kuwaiti government. while also quoting similar amounts in PKR, indicating that this was also shared with a similar intent.
Therefore, Soch Fact Check concludes that there is no such allowance being provided by the Pakistani government at this point in time and rates the claim as false.
Virality
The claim was spread widely on Instagram, appearing on @mnnewsoffical with over 200 reports and over 7000 likes. @bloompakistandigital also shared this claim on their Instagram page.
It appeared on Facebook on Pakistan Connect and Bloom Pakistan. It was also shared on X by Bloom Pakistan.
Conclusion: The claim is false. The Pakistani government is not offering a monthly allowance to unmarried women above 30.
