Claim: Kuwait has announced a monthly allowance of 560 Kuwaiti Dinars for unmarried women aged 30 and above.

Fact: The claim is misleading. The aid is classified as “cut-off” (non-continuous) assistance and is not a monthly allowance. Moreover, it will be provided on a case-by-case basis through charities, and eligibility is limited to unmarried Kuwaiti women aged 30 and above whose fathers are deceased.

On 12 February, an Instagram user shared an image with the following caption:

“KUWAIT ANNOUNCES MONTHLY ALLOWANCE FOR UNMARRIED WOMEN AGED 30+

Kuwait has launched a monthly financial support program for Kuwaiti women aged 30 and older who have never married, granting eligible recipients 560 Kuwaiti dinars (approx. $1,800 USD) per month. Circulated widely on Instagram, Facebook, and X since early February 2026, the initiative seeks to provide social security, improve living standards, and expand welfare for unmarried women. Viral posts describe it as a step toward greater financial independence, with some users humorously noting it could influence marriage trends. While aligning with Kuwait’s history of aid for vulnerable groups, the specific announcement lacks broad official confirmation from state sources, fueling online excitement and discussions on gender equity in the Gulf.”

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check conducted a keyword search using the terms “Kuwait,” “Ministry of Social Affairs,” and “unmarried women.” Multiple news outlets reported that Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs announced the addition of a new type of assistance to the Central Aid System as part of its efforts to organise charitable work and expand the social support umbrella for eligible groups. The ministry stated in a circular addressed to the boards of charitable societies and foundations that the new category includes the unmarried Kuwaiti woman, provided that she is 30 years of age or older and that her father is deceased.

The ministry noted that the implementation of this category will be applied on a trial basis initially, with a view to possibly adopting it as a permanent core category of assistance if it is effective. It urged charitable societies and foundations to pull such cases from the system and study them according to their approved mechanisms, and to provide the necessary assistance to eligible applicants., However, in the same notification, the ministry also stressed the need to verify an official document proving the father’s death for each case studied.

The Central Aid System includes support categories for low-income families, orphans, widows, people with disabilities, the elderly, debtors, the sick, and others, and covers multiple types of aid such as one-time payments, family sponsorship, medical and educational assistance, and more, the circular added.

Kuwaiti news outlet Al Jarida further reported that the Assistant Undersecretary for the Welfare and Social Development Sector at Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs, Iman Al-Anzi, clarified that the newly added aid category for the “Single Kuwaiti” under the Central Aid Platform is classified as “cut-off” (disconnected) assistance. It is not continuous or paid as a monthly allowance.

She explained that the support is provided by participating charitable organisations through the platform, not directly by the ministry, and it is not considered one of the formal aid cases eligible for monthly payments through the Family Care Administration.

Virality

Conclusion: The viral claim that Kuwait introduced a monthly allowance of 560 Kuwaiti Dinar for all unmarried women aged 30+ is misleading. While a new aid category has been introduced, it is non-monthly, conditional, and charity-administered assistance for a limited group of eligible women. It is not a guaranteed recurring government stipend.
