Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check did not find any credible reports by reputable media outlets about such an incident occurring at a university in Lahore in April 2026.
A reverse-image search led us to social media posts that only rehashed the same picture but without any supporting evidence, such as the name of the individuals involved or that of the university and the date the purported incident took place.
We then tested the image in Hive Moderation to see if it was created using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The detector said there was a 99.9% likelihood but, specifically, noted a 99.3% probability that it was generated using Gemini 3 — Google’s “most intelligent model yet” — among different models.
Taking cues from this, we checked if the visual contains SynthID, an imperceptible watermark embedded in all content generated by Google’s AI tools. To do so, we ran it through a dedicated detector, which currently works through Gemini in Pakistan.
The SynthID Detector confirmed that the photo was made with Google AI, with a “very high” confidence level.

Soch Fact Check, therefore, concludes that the image is fake. Further, no such credible news sources have reported on such an incident recently.

X user @ia_rajpoot — whose bio says he’s a “journalist” — did not remove the image when told it was AI-generated. In fact, he went as far as to assert that a “crime took place in a university”, question a journalist’s credibility, and ask a commenter if it was a “good act”. His post has so far garnered 411,200 views so far.
@ChotiSheikhni, another X user, cited a response by Grok — an AI chatbot integrated within X — as evidence that the incident did take place. They also went on to claim that they had confirmed its authenticity.
Sahafi Online, a website that appears to publish news, also put up a report about the visual with the same text as in the viral social media posts.
Conclusion: The visual is AI-generated. We did not find any credible reports that such an incident took place at a university in Lahore.
