Claim: Netflix has released a documentary titled “Imran Khan: The Game Changer.”
Fact: The purported trailer is not an official release. Netflix confirmed that it does not have a documentary titled “Imran Khan: The Game Changer” nor is any such project in development.
On 27 May 2025, the Facebook page ‘Imran Khan Updates’ published a video (archive) featuring former Prime Minister Imran Khan, footage from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) past rallies, and speeches and remarks by party leaders, workers, and supporters. It was accompanied by the following caption:
”’عمران خان دی گیم چینجر‘ نیٹ فلیکس نے ڈاکومنٹری جاری کر دی!!
[Netflix has released the documentary ‘Imran Khan: The Game Changer’!!]“
The over two-minute-long clip from the purported documentary “Imran Khan: The Game Changer” features the Netflix logo, the platform’s signature trailer outro, and a “Subscribe” screen.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check searched for a documentary on Netflix called “Imran Khan: The Game Changer” but did not find such a title.
We also did not come across any official press release from Netflix or news reports from credible sources about the existence of such a documentary.
In early April 2024, Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari — Khan’s advisor on international affairs and international media — made a similar claim, stating that Netflix would soon release a documentary on the former prime minister.
Multiple news outlets reported on the same, citing a live session, including Bukhari, Jibran Ilyas, the secretary of the PTI’s social media team, and former provincial lawmakers Firdous Shamim Naqvi and Seemabia Tahir.
“I should also tell viewers that Inshallah, very soon — I’ve talked to Jibran [Ilyas] and others as well [and] we’re providing footage to them — but a wonderful, Inshallah … Netflix … a documentary series is being made [covering] the past 18 months, especially the past six months, but they [Netflix] will start from 18 months to 6 months back. So, Inshallah, you’ll see that whatever has happened in Pakistan will be displayed worldwide on Netflix,” Khan’s advisor had said at the time, according to the PTI.
There has been no update from either the PTI or Bukhari so far.
Additionally, we observed multiple inconsistencies in the purported trailer. For example, the text that appears on screen is neither aligned nor uniformly sized. Moreover, there are many spelling and grammatical errors, such as legend written as “lagend”, who “sacrifice his government”.
There is a space before an exclamation mark — “freedom !” — and some wording, such as “can’t accept slavery”, is partial. A lot of Roman Urdu text also features in the purported trailer.
Interestingly, the release date — a detail usually found towards the end of a trailer of a Netflix title — is also missing.
The PTI has not shared any trailer, including the one in question, on its official social media accounts either.
Additionally, Netflix confirmed to Soch Fact Check that there is no existing documentary titled “Imran Khan: The Game Changer” on the streaming platform or in development, making the claim inaccurate.
