Fact or Fiction?
On 17 August 2025, Pakistani YouTuber Saadur Rehman, also known as Ducky Bhai, was arrested at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). He currently faces serious charges under Pakistan’s Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for allegedly promoting illegal online gambling platforms. Investigators claim he amassed over Rs 210 million through these activities.
The YouTuber was sent to jail on judicial remand on 9 September, and as of 14 October, he remains in custody after his bail plea was denied by the Lahore Sessions Court.
Authorities have also accused Rehman’s wife, Aroob Jatoi, and his manager, Subhan, as co-conspirators, and they have been summoned to appear in court on 3 November 2025. Additionally, the court directed the investigating officer to submit a detailed report by the next hearing. This appearance summoned by the court, along with the report directive, debunks claims that the YouTuber has been sentenced as the case hearings are still ongoing.
Soch Fact Check additionally conducted a keyword search but found no credible articles or evidence to support the claim that Rehman has already been sentenced. While some reports do suggest that Ducky Bhai could face up to seven years in prison if convicted, these are speculative and not based on an official court sentence. Pakistan Observer, for example, recently wrote a report speculating the seven-year sentence, writing, “Several reports quoting legal experts claim that Ducky Bhai could face up to seven years in prison”.
Finally, broadcast journalist Muhammad Umair dispelled rumours about the court sentence on X tweeting, “There is no truth to the seven-year imprisonment sentence for Ducky Bhai yet; the interim challan has just been submitted, and the trial is yet to begin. In the interim challan, Ducky Bhai, Ducky’s wife, and Ducky’s manager have been listed as guilty.”
