Claim: Videos show Iranian and Pakistani female soldiers commenting on the Israel-US war with Iran.

Fact: An analysis found that the clips were generated using Sora by OpenAI.

A Facebook user posted videos purportedly showing Iranian and Pakistani female soldiers commenting on the Israel-US war with Iran.

The first clip, from 31 March, supposedly shows an Iranian female soldier thanking Pakistan for its support. “Iran thanks Pakistan,” reads the caption.

In the clip, the reporter says to the soldier that the world said Iran was fighting alone and places the microphone in front of her. She replies, “There is no doubt that Iran is fighting alone. But the way Pakistan helped us, only we know that. The Pakistani army is fighting alongside us, for which we are grateful…”

The same user posted another clip on 29 March, apparently showing a reporter asking a Pakistani female soldier how Iran fought the world superpower. She responds, “No country in history has stood against the world’s largest nuclear power for almost a month. This is a source of pride for all of humanity. Indeed, Iran has won hearts. Iran has proven that if you are on the right path…”

The caption here states: “Pakistani Armay [sic] Reply to Reporter”.

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check found that the videos were generated using Sora software.

Video 1: The clip has all the tell-tale signs of being AI-generated.

At 0:02, the text on the uniform’s tags are gibberish and misspelled. The tag on the right reads “IRAN NI RMY” and the one on the left also seemingly reads “Iranian army”, but upon closer inspection the misspelled word is noticeable. These are clear signs of AI software, which struggles to generate coherent text.

Furthermore, one of the Iranian flags, for instance at 0:13, is missing the red emblem “Allah” on the white stripe in the center, another indication of AI.

This clip also carries a “Sora” watermark. Sora is an AI-generation software by OpenAI that takes text input as a prompt and generates a video. This confirmed that the clip was created using this software.

Sora watermark appears on the footage.

Soch Fact Check also ran the clip through an AI detection tool. Hive Moderation yielded the probability of 99.9%, which means that “the input is likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content”. Notably, the tool also confirmed that “sora2” was used in the creation of this video.

Soch Fact Check therefore confirms that the clip is AI-generated.

Video 2: This video also has clear signs of being AI-generated and carries a Sora logo.

The tags on the uniform of the female soldier are supposedly in Urdu, but the text is gibberish and nonsensical, a telltale sign of AI-generation software.

Another indication is the signboard on the entrance at the beginning of the clip, on which appears blurred and unreadable Urdu text.

Furthermore, this clip also carries a Sora watermark, confirming that this software by OpenAI was used in its creation.

Finally, Hive Moderation returned the total probability 99.9% for the overall clip and confirmed that Sora was also used to generate this footage.

Soch Fact Check therefore confirms the clip is AI-generated.

Virality

The first clip was reshared 11,000 times and received at least  210,000 likes.

It was also posted on Instagram here and here.

It can also be seen on Threads here.

The second video of the Pakistani female soldier on Facebook received 3,200 reactions and was reshared 390 times.

On Instagram, it appeared here.

Conclusion: Both the clips were generated using Sora software by OpenAI.
