Claim: A video shows the police manhandling Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi outside Adiala jail in November 2025.

Fact: The video is not connected to the recent protests as it appeared online in May 2025.

In November 2025, X users posted a video apparently showing police beating up the Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, outside Adiala jail. The caption of one such post states: “Serious claims emerging from Pakistan: KP CM Suhail Afridi was allegedly beaten and humiliated by security forces outside Adiala Jail. Such actions — if verified — are a direct assault on democracy and civilian rights. #Pakistan #breakingnews‌”.

Afridi staged a sit-in outside Adiala jail after he was denied a meeting with Khan in late November 2025. Afridi, a PTI Member of the Provincial Assembly, was elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the provincial assembly in October 2025.

More recently, supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) also held protests outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi after Khan’s sisters were denied a meeting with him in November 2025.

This led to rumours about Khan’s whereabouts and claims began circulating online about his alleged death.

Soch Fact Check debunked claims about Imran Khan’s alleged death here.

This article is only fact-checking if the footage was taken during the November sit-in or not.

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check reverse-searched keyframes from the video and found that it is old and unrelated to the recent sit-in outside Adiala jail.

An X user posted this video (archive) on 6 May 2025 with the following caption [translated from Urdu into English]: “I strongly condemn in the strongest terms the terrorism and thuggery perpetrated by the Punjab Police against the publicly elected provincial minister Sohail Khan Afridi of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. PTI MNAs and workers went outside Adiala Jail to express solidarity with our leader Imran Khan Sahib, where the goons of the Punjab Police attacked them in such a manner as if these were not Pakistan’s civilian citizens, but rather the Indian army had arrived outside Adiala Jail.” The scenes in this X clip match the video being fact-checked, as shown below:

Left: Video being shared in November 2025. Right: The same footage from May 2025.

X users here (archive) and here (archive) also posted the same video on 6 May 2025, confirming the footage is old.

On 6 May 2025, Imran Khan’s YouTube channel posted a video titled “ LIVE From Adiala Jail | Imran Khan Sisters & PTI Leaders at outside Adiyala Jail”. The clip shows Khan’s supporters gathered outside Adiala jail as his sisters were trying to meet him. This video also shows Sohail Afridi present alongside supporters who were clearly manhandled by the police.

Soch Fact Check therefore rates the claim misleading as the footage is from six months ago.

Virality

The clip was shared on X here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

On Facebook, the clip was shared here and here.

Conclusion: A video reshared recently does not show CM KP Sohail Afridi being manhandled by police outside Adiala jail in November 2025; the footage is actually six months old.
