Claim: Bollywood Actor Aishwarya Rai publicly addressed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him controversial questions about India’s losses in the 2025 India-Pakistan military conflict.

Fact: The video is manipulated using AI. The original video is from the centenary celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, where Rai delivered a speech on peace, love, and humanity in the presence of the Prime Minister. Multiple clips also show her bowing down to Modi and touching his feet as a sign of respect.

Fact or Fiction?

In commemoration of the 100th birthday of renowned Indian spiritual guru, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai, celebrations took place in India’s Satya Sai district, bringing over 500,00 devotees, including national leaders and public figures together.

As a student of the Sathya Sai Bal Vikas program, Rai was invited to deliver a speech at the celebrations. Her speech gained virality and praise for its messages of peace, love, and unity.

However, once the virality crossed the border, the video was manipulated using AI tools, creating a deepfake of Rai asking the prime minister controversial and confrontational questions.

In the deep-fake video, Rai states:

“I would like to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi: Why did we lose six jets to Pakistan? Why did we lose four Rafales to Pakistan? Why did we lose two S-400 systems to Pakistan? Why did we lose 300 soldiers to Pakistan? Why did we lose significant parts of our boundary in Kashmir and Rajasthan to Pakistan?

Prime Minister, we know that the film fraternity does not get involved in politics, but this is something the nation demands to know. You must tell us.”

Captions with the video also claim that the Indian media is trying to hide or delete the clip. However, a simple Google search of Rai’s speech reveals that Rai did not make any mention of Pakistan, the conflict, or Indian losses. In fact, the speech was praised for its messages of unity and peace.

A Facebook search of the keywords ‘Aishwarya Rai Modi’ reveals that the fake video has primarily circulated in Pakistan, whereas the original video has been shared positively for its message across India.

Virality

The deep-fake video gained major virality in Pakistan across different platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and WhatsApp.

It was shared by Pakistan Economic Net, gaining 5,300 reactions. Pakistani media outlet Express News also misleadingly posted its article on social media with a clickbait headline that does not mention that the video is fake until the viewer reads the article.

The deep-fake was also shared here, here, here, and here on Facebook. The video was also shared with the false claim on X, here gaining 3,100 likes and 1,200 reposts.

Conclusion: Aishwarya Rai did not confront PM Modi about Indian losses to Pakistan. The video circulating online is a deepfake from a speech she delivered during a public address at Bhagwaran Sathya Sai Baba’s cemetery celebrations.
