Claim: During an interview, Pakistani actress Iqra Aziz said, “Whenever I see Aiman Khan’s two daughters, I am thankful I do not have a daughter”
Fact: The claim is false as Aziz did not comment on Aiman Khan’s daughters at any point during the interview.
Facebook page Lollywoodnews shared a clip from an interview (archive) of actress Iqra Aziz, writing, “Shukr Hain Meri Baiti Nai hn” [Translation: Thank God I don’t have daughters].
The video also contains the following text: “جب بھی ایمن خان کی دو دو بیٹیاں دیتی ہوں تو شکر کرتی ہوں کہ میری کوئی بیٹی نہیں، اقرا عزیز”
[Translation: Whenever I see Aiman Khan’s two daughters, I thank God that I don’t have a daughter of my own.” – Iqra Aziz]
Along with a clip of Aziz’s interview, the video also carries an image of actors Aiman Khan, her husband Muneeb Butt, and their daughters.
Fact or Fiction?
The claim seemed dubious, as Aziz does not mention Aiman Khan or her daughters at any point in the clip in the post itself. Instead, she speaks about marital life and forming a relationship.
In the video, Aziz says, “Kuch log hotay hain jo soch rahay hotay hain ke nahi yaar iss se be behtar chahiye, tou behtar se behtar ki talaash mein tou yeh humara lalach hai. Agar hum khwahishaat pe ayein jaisay khwahishaat kehtay hain ke “hazaaron khwahishein aisi ke har khwahish pe dum niklay” tou har khwahish pe aap ka dum niklay ga jis ke saath aapne settle hona hai uss mein agar aap ko husband ya wife wali cheez nazar ati hai tou.. Somebody said this to me, ke shaadi jo hoti hai na pyaar aap ka thoray arsay ka hota hai, shaadi mein izzat hoti hai woh izzat agar aap ki ho na tou aap ki shaadi chalti hai.”
[Translation: Some people think no, I want someone better, and this search for something better is our greed. If we think of desire, it’s like that saying, “There are thousands of desires, and each one is enough to take your breath away,” so if you give in to it, your breath will go out with each desire. If you see the qualities of a husband or wife in the person you’re meant to settle with, then… Somebody said this to me: Marriage is something where love exists only for a short time. For your marriage to work, there must be respect. If a marriage has respect, then it will work.]
She further added, “Do not think ke pyaar aap ko 40 saal, 50 saal wala milay ga. You will have love lekin woh jo naya love hota hai, ek relationship ki feeling hoti hai, woh kuch aur hoti hai. After shaadi, things are different; they change. You change; the other person changes; family grows. You have a kid; priorities change. Itni saari cheezein hojati hain. Phir aap ki ek companionship hoti hai. Aap ki izzat hoti hai; different baatein hoti hain. As a parent, sochtay ho har baat mein. As a husband, as a wife, sochtay ho. Doesn’t matter ke aap kuch soch rahay ho ke yaar dar lag raha hai commit nahi karna chahiye. Just go for it if you think it’s the right thing to do.”
[Translation: Do not think that you will get the same love for 40 years or 50 years. You will have love, but a new kind of love, a feeling of a relationship, and it’s something else. After marriage, things are different; they change. You change; the other person changes; the family grows. You have a child; priorities change. So many things happen. Then you have companionship, you have respect; different things come up. You think as a parent in every matter. You think as a husband, as a wife.. It doesn’t matter if you think “I’m scared, I shouldn’t commit.” Just go for it if you think it’s the right thing to do.]
Since the video featured Fuchsia Magazine’s logo, we scoured the entertainment magazine’s YouTube channel for the full interview. Soch Fact Check reviewed the entire interview and found that the viral clip was taken from 40:22 onwards. At this point, Aziz responds to the host’s question about how one would know if someone is worth committing to and is not a fleeting infatuation or a crush.
The only time in the interview she mentioned Aiman Khan’s name was when she was asked to guess who might have written an Instagram post with the caption: “When life throws lemons, make lemonade.”
