Claim: A video shows an explosion in Nasir Bagh, Peshawar, in February 2026.

Fact: The video was posted as far back as in July 2021, and likely depicting an incident at a port in Dubai. Moreover, there are no credible news reports to suggest that an explosion took place in Nasir Bagh, Peshawar recently.

On 24 February, an X user posted a video (archive) purportedly showing an explosion in Nasir Bagh in Peshawar. The caption states: “Big Breaking:- On Nasir Bagh Road Peshawar, Pakistan, there were Heavy Explosion reported.

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check conducted a keyword search but found no credible reports regarding a recent explosion in Nasir Bagh, Peshawar. This raised our suspicions around the claim.

Then, a reverse-search of its keyframes yielded posts from July 2021, which had shared the video in question, confirming it is old.

A Facebook account posted the same clip (archive) on 8 July 2021, with the following description:
#BREAKING: Massive explosion on ship reported at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai

A fire caused by an explosion within a container on board a ship at Jebel Ali Port has been brought under control; no casualties have been reported, says Dubai civil defence”.

Another Facebook account, “Akhbar Lebanon”, posted the same footage (archive) on 8 July 2021, with this description [translated from Arabic via Google Translate]: “The devastation caused by the explosion at Jebel Ali port in #Dubai”.

Several such posts on Facebook from 8 July 2021 shared the same video, confirming it is old, and all the captions link it to an explosion at a port in Dubai.

A fire reportedly broke out on a container ship after an explosion on the vessel at the Jebel Ali Port in Dubai in July 2021.

Moreover, AFP Fact Check debunked this clip when it was falsely linked to the Pakistan-India conflict in May 2025. The report found that “the video traces back to news reports about a blaze in a Dubai port.” AFP also found that Al Arabiya and Al Jazeera carried the same clip in their news reports about the same fire at the Jebel Ali Port.

Soch Fact Check, therefore, rates the claim as false.
