Claim: Suzuki has launched a new model of Mehran for 2025.
Fact: AI-generated images of Suzuki’s Mehran were used to claim that a new model has been launched. However, Suzuki’s management confirmed that this is false
On 30 March 2025, a website called SSCArticle published a post titled “Finally! New 2025 Suzuki Mehran Unveiled – See Price, Powerful Features & Interior Pics.” A day later, social media users began sharing the same information on Facebook.
Fact or Fiction?
The cover image of the article mentioned above shows an SUV with the word “Saran” on its front number-plate.
Despite the Suzuki logo in the front of the car, it does not look anything like the previous models of Mehran or the other cars that the company manufactures in Pakistan. The same article includes several images, which appear doctored. Another image shows a white car with illegible text inscribed at the back number-plate and the section where a car’s name is usually inscribed. This illegible lettering is a tell-tale sign of AI manipulation.
Another image included in the article shows five cars parked side by side, none of which resemble the two vehicles shown earlier. These cars differ slightly in their front design and share the same issue of illegible writing on their number plates. The photograph also features a group of women standing in front of the cars. On closer inspection, the lower half of their bodies appear distorted. Moreover, the attire worn by the women does not align with what is typically worn by women in Pakistan.
The images used to make this claim are all AI-generated. In addition, Soch Fact Check reached out to Salman Real Estates and Automobiles, a local automobiles dealer in Karachi about an alleged new model of Mehran. The owner confirmed that he has not received verification for this news, he also said, “If this was true, I would have been informed as I am a part of several mailing lists and WhatsApp groups with car manufacturers. It is simply not true.”
We also reached out to Suzuki Motors. A member of the senior management informed us that, in the absence of an official spokesperson — the position currently vacant — the company has not issued an official response to the viral claim. However, they confirmed that the claim is false. They further clarified that Suzuki has no plans to launch a new model of the Mehran in its upcoming line-up of cars, which has already been decided through 2026.
