On 15 May 2024, a viral Facebook post claimed that renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had passed away.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, a Pakistani Qawwali singer, He is one of the most popular and highest-paid singers in the country. He is the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and grandson of Qawwali singer Fateh Ali Khan.

Soch Fact Check thoroughly surveyed mainstream news platforms in Pakistan, including Geo, ARY, SAMAA, Dawn, The News, and Aaj News. We did not find any credible reports claiming that Khan had passed away.
We also surveyed the singer’s Instagram profile and did not find any announcements regarding his death or ill health which could have been misconstrued as news of his death.
Soch Fact Check then got in touch with Maroof Ali Khan — a family member as well as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s manager — who confirmed that the singer is alive and well. Maroof rejected any news regarding his death or even sickness.
