Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check first reached out to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan for a comment on the matter. He debunked the claim as “fake news.”

We also visited PTI’s X account to look for any clarifications regarding the claim. On 29 June 2026, the account posted a video message featuring Rashid’s lawyer Rana Mudassar Umer. The caption of the post reads:

“حال ہی میں ڈاکٹر یاسمین راشد سے متعلق گردش کرنے والی خبروں کے حوالے سے، اُن کے وکیل رانا مدثر عمر ایڈووکیٹ کے ذریعے جاری کردہ بیان

[Translation: “Regarding the recently circulating news related to Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the statement issued by her lawyer Rana Mudassar Umar Advocate.”]

Soch Fact Check transcribed his one minute and 34 second video message; it is translated in English below:

“Assalam o Alaikum, this is Rana Mudassar Umer, lawyer of Yasmin Rashid, addressing you. During a hearing today at Kot Lakhpat jail after a week, the leadership and other workers met Dr Yasmin. We told her about the news circulating on social media regarding her health and a will. Dr Yasmin Rashid sahiba clarified that she is fine, and debunked the will too. She expressed her thanks for the community that expressed their concern for her.

Besides this, her daily health condition includes her cancer treatment and breathing problem. However, recently she has been recommended to get surgery on her spine but then she’d be required to walk less or not walk at all. This is why we reached out to the court. They have released an order that she should get the treatment as soon as possible, but there has been no progress since then. Lastly, Dr Yasmin Rashid said in a message that she is high-spirited, and she is doing her time in jail to uphold the law, and for the betterment of the upcoming generation and the Pakistani citizens. She also said the future era belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.”

Moreover, Rashid’s X feed was also updated on 30 June with a picture of her smiling. The caption reads:

[Translation: “All the news about me is being spread falsely, my morale is high, I stand even more firmly with Imran Khan than before – I was deeply hurt to hear the fake news. No one should believe any news about us, except that which is given through our family

Focus Imran Khan. #ReleaseImranKhan.”]

Barrister Gohar’s comment to Soch Fact Check and the online video statement from her lawyer confirms that reports of Dr Yasmin Rashid’s death are false.
