Claim: A video shows Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters removing a shipping container in Lahore amid the demonstration on 5 August 2025.

Fact: The video is old and unrelated to the recent protests.

A Facebook user posted a video (archive) that purportedly showed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protesters in Lahore removing a shipping container from a road amid their protest on 5 August 2025. The caption alongside the post states:

لاہور اج پھر شا گیا ہے”

.”لاہوریوں نے کنٹینر ایسے ہٹائے جیسے ثواب کا کام ہوتا ہے اپ چیک کر سکتے ہیں اور زندہ باد پنجاب زندہ باد پاکستان پورا زندہ باد

When translated from English into Urdu via Google Translate, the caption reads: “Lahore has impressed us again today. The people of Lahore removed containers as if it were a reward. You can check and long live Punjab, long live Pakistan, long live the whole country”.

The caption likely refers to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s protests in Lahore on 5 August 2025, as the post was shared on the same day.

PTI supporters rallied in several cities to demand Imran Khan’s release earlier this month as August 2025 marks the second anniversary of Khan’s arrest. He was detained on various charges, which were dismissed by Khan as politically motivated and he has since denied any wrongdoing.

Authorities arrested hundreds of PTI supporters from across the country. A video shared by the party’s official X account (archive) showed the police dragging PTI leader Rehana Dar into the van. “An elder like Rehana Dar is being dragged by the shameless Punjab Police, a disgraceful sight. Maryam Nawaz and IG Punjab have sunk to a new low with this act,” said the post.

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check reverse-searched keyframes from the video and found that it is not connected to protests carried out by PTI supporters on 5 August 2025.

An Instagram user “abdulwalik76” posted a video (archive) with the description, “Just 2 hour (sic) later 24 November Islamabad D-chock” in November 2024. The scenes in this video up to 0:15 match the footage from the claim, indicating that it is not linked to the recent demonstrations.

On the left is the screenshot of the video from the claim, and on the right is the Instagram post from November 2024.

Furthermore, Reddit user “Some_Employment4931” posted a video (archive) on 5 October 2024 with the text that reads, “A man called his nation and nation answered him with a roar”. Scenes in this clip also match the video from the claim, confirming that it is unrelated to PTI’s August 2025 protests.

Another Reddit user also posted the same video (archive) in October 2024.

Since the footage appeared as early as October 2024, Soch Fact Check concludes that it is not connected to the recent protests.
