Claim: US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, recently named Pakistan as one of the potential new partner countries that may recognise Israel as part of the push for the Abraham Accords. This, the claim asserts, is what was agreed to during Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s visit to America in June 2025.
Fact: Kushner made the remarks during the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) “Never Is Now” conference in March 2024, making the statement old and unrelated to Munir’s June 2025 visit to the US. Additionally, there are no official updates regarding the possibility of Pakistan officially recognising Israel as a state.
On 4 July 2025, Facebook page ‘Breaking News’ posted (archive) a video showing US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, speaking at an event.
In the clip, Kushner — who also served as a senior advisor on Middle East affairs during Trump’s first time as the president from 2017 to 2021 — says:
“Speaking with both Jews and Muslims, who are navigating the dynamics caused by the current conflict, left me more positive than ever that the Abraham Accords have the foundation to prosper and expand across additional nations, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Indonesia, and many, many more to come.”
‘Breaking News’ wrote the following caption alongside the video in question:
[US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner highlighted the name of Pakistan as a potential (read as likely) new partner that could recognise Israel as part of the push for the Abraham Accords. No one doles out free lunches. Now it’s coming to light as to what has been agreed to in America. Now everyone tell me who is actually facilitating the Jews in Pakistan.]”
Pakistan’s army chief visits US
The video surfaced shortly after Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s meeting with Trump at the White House on 19 June 2025 in what was the first time a top serving military official was “formally received at this level, without holding political office or governing under martial law”, according to Dawn.
“Munir has now become the first serving chief of army staff to have a face-to-face meeting with a sitting US president,” it added.
The army chief was accompanied by head of the Inter-Services Intelligence, Pakistan’s spy agency, Lt Gen Asim Malik, who also serves as the National Security Advisor, according to a press release issued by the military’s media wing, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The American side included US State Secretary Marco Rubio and Trump’s Special Representative for Middle Eastern Affairs, Steve Witkoff.
The ISPR said that Munir praised Trump’s “role in facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India in the recent regional crisis”, referring to the four-day conflict in which New Delhi launched Operation Sindoor and Islamabad countered it with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
The US President “lauded Pakistan’s ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability and appreciated the robust counter-terrorism cooperation between the two states”, it added. The ISPR further noted that discussions between the two also included “avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation in multiple domains including trade, economic development, mines and minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrency, and emerging technologies”.
Reuters reported that Trump and Munir “discussed Iran” as tensions peaked at that time over Israel’s 12-day war against the Islamic Republic. It added that according to White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly, the US president “hosted Munir after he called for the president to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for preventing a nuclear war between India and Pakistan”.
According to Dawn and other outlets, Trump, while speaking of the Iran-Israel war, said, “They [Pakistan] know Iran very well — better than most — and they’re not happy about anything. It’s not that they’re bad with Israel. They know them both, actually, but they know Iran better.”
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check reverse-searched keyframes from the video in question and found that it actually shows Kushner’s remarks at the ADL’s “Never Is Now” conference from March 2024. These comments can be viewed between the 16:46 to 17:06 marks on the NGO’s YouTube channel, where the video was posted on 12 March 2024.
The same speech was also shot from another angle when pro-Palestinian protesters interrupted Kushner by calling for a “ceasefire now” and labelling him a “warmonger” and “racist”.
In his address, Kushner did discuss the Abraham Accords and say Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Indonesia were considered potential partners in normalising relations with Israel.
As part of the Abraham Accords, which were signed in 2020, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Morocco became the latest Arab countries to formally recognise Israel.
This marked the end of a 25-year period breaking the “years of consensus among most Arab states, which had maintained any official recognition of Israel should be contingent upon the cessation of the occupation of Palestinian territory and the establishment of a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders”, according to Al Jazeera.
Egypt and Jordan have relations with Israel since 1979 and 1994, respectively.
In his May 2025 visit to Saudi Arabia, Trump urged the Kingdom to join the Abraham Accords, saying it was his “fervent hope, wish, and even my dream” that it happens and that it would “be very important for the future of the Middle East”, Anadolu Agency reported.
Therefore, Soch Fact Check concludes that the video is not only old but unrelated to Munir’s visit to the US in June 2025.
