Claim: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced at a recent press conference that Pakistan would recognise the state of Israel soon.
Fact: The claim is false. A review of the clip in the claim as well as Dar’s full press conference from 30 September confirmed that he did not make such a statement.
A video of Ishaq Dar’s press conference from 30 September 2025 has been shared online with the following caption: “اللہ کی رضا کے لیے ہم اسرائیل کو تسلیم کرنے جا رہے ہیں، اسحاق ڈار”
[Translation: For the sake of Allah, we are going to recognise Israel, Ishaq Dar]
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check found the claim dubious as Dar did not mention Israel or make any statements regarding its recognition at any point even in the accompanying video.
We reviewed the foreign minister’s full press conference held on 30 September to understand the context of his remarks. The presser focused on US president Donald Trump’s 20- point Gaza peace plan. The deputy prime minister distanced Pakistan from the plan, saying that, “This is not our document, which we sent to them. There are some key areas that we want covered. If they are not covered, they will be covered.” Dar further added that the 20-point plan was an announcement from the US side. “We have issued a joint statement on behalf of eight countries [that held a meeting with Trump in New York last week]. We own this. If there is any difference anywhere, we would go by – we are committed to this (joint statement)” he emphasised.
On 25 September, the Pakistani Prime Minister and Field Marshal met the US president at the Oval office. The meeting increased speculation about Pakistan recognising Israel and joining the Abraham accords.
The viral clip has been taken from 26:20 onwards. In this section, Dar defended himself and his team against criticism for allegedly endorsing Trump’s Gaza peace plan. He spoke about his efforts, along with those of eight countries and their leaders. He was referring to the amendments proposed by Pakistan and the eight countries to Trump’s Gaza peace plan. Dar concluded his remarks with a prayer for divine guidance to fulfil their collective goals i.e., ensuring a ceasefire, allowing humanitarian aid in Gaza, and ending the forced displacement of Palestinians.
At no point in the press conference does he announce Pakistan’s plans to recognise Israel.
