Claim: Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was mentioned in the Epstein Files, showing his attendance at Epstein’s parties and involvement with criminal activities.

Fact: Qureshi’s name was listed in an email dated 1 October 2010 along with dignitaries from various other countries, but no clarity on what the list was for, apart from the UN .

Instagram user @hudazobair posted a video stating Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s name was mentioned in the Epstein files. The video, which has 10.3k likes and 293 comments at the time of writing, includes screenshots of the emails wherein his name was listed as a representative of Pakistan alongside a comprehensive list of other dignitaries.

The social media user alerted the audience regarding his involvement with Epstein, calling for accountability. She also calls the public response to the mention “disappointing” and states that people are “justifying it in the comments”.

The video implicates Shah Mehmood Qureshi in engaging in crimes and offenses at Epstein’s parties where children were being “mutilated, eaten, and molested”.

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check found the claim to be misleading, considering Qureshi’s name was not mentioned in isolation or in relation to any criminal activity, evidence, or nefarious accusations.

The email, dated to 1 October 2010, is from the time when Qureshi served as Foreign Minister for PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani administration. It is an exchange between Jeffrey Epstein and Jes Staley, a JPMorgan executive, where Staley is informing Epstein that he may have a private audience with each dignitary on the list and that security clearance has been granted. The list included representatives from Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries, including Pakistan. Epstein replies to the email saying, “That’s amazing.”

There are no other traces of Qureshi mentioned in the files apart from the mention in EFTA01811353.pdf, the email in question, and EFTA00148963.pdf, which quotes Qureshi’s address to the United Nations, wherein he officially accused India of meeting with and funding militant groups, specifically the Pakistani Taliban and Baloch insurgent groups..

There is no other conclusive evidence of Qureshi’s attendance at any aforementioned parties nor any record of interaction between Qureshi and Epstein. We could not find photos, direct communication or official records that indicate there was an exchange of any kind between them.

Therefore, Soch Fact Check rates the claim as false.
