Claim: A notification circulating on social media claims to be an official announcement issued by Bahria University issued a notification for students saying that any couple found standing together on campus premises during Ramzan will be made to enter into a nikkah immediately.

Fact: The notification is fake and has been falsely attributed to Bahria University.

On 22 February 2026, X user meowboro (@abrawkadabraw) shared an image of a purported “Bahria University, Islamabad (Academics Branch)” notification, with the caption: “Nikkah will be arranged??😭😭😭”.

The attached document, dated 20 February 2026, notifies about certain rules for students’ on-campus conduct. It claims that during Ramadan, “standing together in couple (boy & girl) is strictly prohibited,” within campus premises and alleges that if any couple is found standing together, “their nikkah will be arranged immediately”. The notification further adds that the couple would be responsible for arranging their own “walima.”

The post had 662.4K views at the time the screenshot was taken.

Fact or Fiction

Soch Fact Check reviewed the viral notification and examined whether it had been issued through official Bahria University channels. A keyword search of the notice’s wording showed that the document was circulating widely on Facebook and WhatsApp. However, we found no record of the notification on Bahria University’s official website. No matching announcement appears on any of the university’s official communication platforms.

The document itself is primarily being shared as a screenshot rather than an official link,  a common pattern in fabricated institutional notices. A closer review of the text also shows grammatical and phrasing issues inconsistent with formal institutional communication. For instance, the notice states, “It is here by to inform,” with an error in the word “hereby.” It also uses grammatically incorrect phrasing such as “during the Holy month of Ramadan standing together in couple (boy & girl) is strictly prohibited!” instead of writing “standing together as a couple”.

We then checked the Bahria University’s verified Instagram account, where they publicly clarified that the circulating notification was fake and had been falsely attributed to the institution.

Given the university’s explicit denial, the inconsistencies in the notification in the claim and the absence of any official record, Soch Fact Check rates the claim as false.

Virality

Soch Fact Check found the notification circulating here and here on Facebook. The claim was also shared here, here, and here on Instagram.

Conclusion: The notification circulating online is fake. Bahria University did not issue any such Ramzan announcement for students.
