Fake images of Pakistan Day commemorative note are circulating on social media
The government has not released an image of commemorative PKR 75 note
Claim: The Government of Pakistan has released an image of a PKR 75 commemorative note which will be issued on the occasion of Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day on 14 August 2022.
Fact: The claim is misleading. While the State Bank of Pakistan plans on issuing PKR 75 notes to mark Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day, the government has not disclosed the design of the special commemorative note.
Fact or Fiction?
On 24 June 2022, an image started circulating on social media, particularly on Facebook and Twitter, with the claim that it depicts the design of a new PKR 75 note which will be issued on Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day coming up on 14 August 2022.
As per media reports, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was considering printing polymer banknotes and issuing them to mark the country’s 75th independence day but the federal government rejected the proposal for polymer notes and directed that the State Bank should get the commemorative banknotes printed in the country.
Moreover, in a Twitter statement, SBP clarified that the image circulating on various social media platforms is fake.
Soch Fact Check conducted a CrowdTangle analysis for the 7-day period from 21 June to 27 June using the following search terms:

The results revealed that the image in question garnered 2,600 interactions across 11 public posts on Facebook.
