Several Facebook users have circulated photographs of Hania Aamir with the caption: “ہانیہ عامر کی برہنہ ویڈیو لیک ہوگئی ویڈیو نے ہر طرف ہنگامہ برپا کردیا ویڈیو میں دیکھا جا سکتا ہے کہ”

Fake news targeting Hania Aamir
Hania Aamir is a Pakistani television and film actress who has appeared in various drama serials across multiple entertainment channels, including Hum TV and ARY Digital.
In September 2024, the actress spoke up against and condemned a viral deepfake video that depicted her inappropriately. The AI-generated video, which showed a woman resembling Aamir, spread rapidly across social media platforms, initially misleading many viewers into believing it was authentic. However, some users soon identified it as a deepfake.
As the video gained traction and sparked widespread debate online, Aamir addressed the issue on her Instagram stories. Sharing a screenshot of an article, titled “Hania Aamir’s indecent video goes viral,”, she expressed alarm, writing, “This AI stuff is very scary,” and questioned, “Can there be some laws in place?” She firmly denied any involvement and clarified, “These are NOT my videos, if anyone is convinced they are.”
Hania Aamir later tracked and identified the Instagram account responsible for spreading the deepfake videos, named “Anureet Sandhu,” which had over 22,000 followers and featured numerous AI-generated videos using her face. After being blocked by the account, she urged her followers to report it. The account later changed its name multiple times to avoid detection, but further investigation revealed it was based in Chandigarh, India.
The claim being fact-checked may have surfaced in connection with this incident.
In recent years, Aamir has become a frequent target of misinformation and disinformation campaigns, often amplified by her strong social media presence and cross-border popularity. Her interactions with Indian entertainment personalities have drawn ire, particularly during the recent tensions between India and Pakistan. The actor was singled out for criticism and online backlash.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check first examined the link shared in the comments of the viral posts. Upon clicking the link, we were redirected to a website called “FalloutShelter.” Clicking on the blog post that featured Hania Aamir’s photo led to a page, titled “How artificial intelligence is used to evaluate applicants, allocate funding, and predict student success.” However, despite the headline, the top of the page displayed the same photo of Aamir circulating in the viral posts., Below the image, an “Overview” of the article was written in the following Urdu text:
[Translation: Social media is once again in an uproar; this time, the focus is on popular actress Hania Aamir, who is allegedly involved in a leaked private video. Although the video’s authenticity has not been confirmed, users have been spreading the rumour widely without verification.]
The rest of the content of the article is unrelated to Hania Aamir and the “Overview”. Rather, it discusses the role of artificial intelligence in education. The use of the actress’s image and the accompanying Urdu blurb in the article appeared to be clickbait and unsubstantiated material.
We tried searching for the website on Google, but it did not appear in the results, which further raised our suspicions around its credibility.
We ran the website through an online Virus scanning service, VirusTotal, to check if it is used for scams or phishing. The scanner did not flag it as malicious or harmful in such terms. However, the scanner only checked how safe the website is for digital systems. It does not verify or rate the website for its misleading or false content. Therefore, the credibility of its clickbait content remains a separate concern.
In addition, Soch Fact Check conducted a keyword search to check whether any credible entertainment publications or outlets had recently reported on any explicit or leaked videos of Hania Aamir. However, we did not find any credible news coverage verifying the existence of such a video. This further reinforced our suspicion that the claim is baseless.
We also reverse-searched the two photos circulating with the viral posts and found that one image was originally shared (archive) on Hania Aamir’s Instagram in July 2023. The other was posted (archive) in March 2025 by the Instagram account of a fashion magazine, LAAM Loves, and appears to be from a photoshoot Aamir herself shared in February 2025. This confirmed that the original photographs of the Pakistani actress were misused to malign her and mislead viewers.
Virality
The claim gained significant traction on Facebook, receiving over 87,000 likes and 1,300 shares. It was shared here, here, here, here, here, and here. Archived here, here, here, here, here, and here.
It was shared here (archive) and here (archive) on X.
Conclusion: Clickbait posts on social media falsely claimed that an explicit video of Hania Aamir was leaked online. The posts included genuine photos of the actress from one of her photoshoots, alongside false headlines and links to a suspicious website.
