Claim: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur confronted the government about the security situation in the country during a National Security Committee meeting.

Fact: The viral video is doctored. Gandapur’s clip from a different speech was edited and superimposed on an image from the NSC meeting held on 7 May after India launched attacks on nine targets in Pakistan.

A video circulating online shows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and Field Marshal General Asim Munir in a high-level meeting, accompanied by the following caption:

“قومی سلامتی کمیٹی کا اجلاس، وزیر اعلیٰ خیبر پختون خواہ علی امین گنڈا پور نے سب کو آئینہ دیکھایا”

[Translation: National Security Committee meeting, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur held a mirror up to everyone.]

In the video, Gandapur can be heard saying:

Ke yeh halaat kharab kyun hotay hain? Kharab karnay ki wujoohat kya hain? Aur wujoohat mein ne identify ki. Ek dafa sab ke saamne dobara mein karna chahta hoon. Imran Khan ke daur-e-hukoomat mein yeh cheez khatam ho chuki thi.”

[Translation: Why do these situations deteriorate? What are the reasons behind the instability? I have identified those reasons. I would like to present them once again in front of everyone. During Imran Khan’s tenure, this issue ended.]

He continues to say:

Record ki baat karunga — aap dekh lein kitnay dhamakay huay, kitnay hamlay huay forces pe, khudkush huay. Aap log dekh lein 2018 se 2021 ke end tak. Jitna bhi woh time tha aap usay dekh lein. Uskay baad kya hua? Uskay baad poori riyasat aur tamam idaray ek party ko khatam karne ke chakkar mein parh gaye. Aur unho ne poora focus kar diya ek party ke upar, uss party ke leadership ke upar, workers ke upar, uss ke candidates ke upar. Woh ek party ko khatam karne ke liye apni saari stamina, saari quwwat laga di. Woh jo inka asal kaam tha, woh chhor diya.”

[Translation: I’m referring to the record, just look at the number of bombings, attacks on forces, and suicide attacks, look at the data from 2018 to the end of 2021. Look at that period. What happened after that? The entire state and all institutions got busy trying to eliminate one political party. They shifted their entire focus onto that party. Its leadership, workers, and candidates. They put all their stamina and power into destroying that party. They abandoned their actual responsibilities.]

He further adds:

Uska result yeh nikla ke yeh cheez dobara ubharna shuru hui. Ubhartay ubhartay aaj woh yahan tak pohonch gayi. Lekin mein ne day 1 se inko kaha ke aap yahan pe political point scoring kartay hain. Yeh nahi karni chahiye. Pakhtunkhwa aur Balochistan ke halaat kuch aur hain. Hamare borders par woh ilaqay hain jahan superpowers kai dihaiyon se jangain larh rahay hain. Sirf jangain nahi hui, unko shikast bhi hui hai. Tou unkay halaat ko compare karna with Punjab or with Sindh theek nahi hai. Unfortunately, yahan pe political point scoring shuru hojati hai. Government inn cheezon ko hata kar kabhi ek taraf laga detay hain, kabhi doosri taraf. Tou mein aaj yeh bar-mala keh raha hoon.”

[Translation: The result was that the situation began to resurface. And over time, it reached this point. But I told them from day one, you’re busy with political point scoring. This shouldn’t happen. The conditions in Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are very different. On our borders lie regions where superpowers have been fighting for decades, not just fighting, but also suffering defeats. So, comparing those conditions with Punjab or Sindh is unfair. Unfortunately, they start political point scoring here. The government sets aside these issues and sometimes aligns with one side, sometimes the other. Today, I am saying this openly.]

Ali Amin Gandapur’s political career

Ali Amin Gandapur, a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following the 2024 General Elections. He was previously elected to the KP Assembly in 2013 and served as the Minister for Revenue and Estate under the PTI-led provincial government. In the 2018 General Elections, he was elected as a Member of the National Assembly and held the portfolio of Federal Minister.

Gandapur has emerged as a central figure in PTI’s politics following Imran Khan’s arrest in August 2023, frequently appearing at public demonstrations alongside key party leaders such as Bushra Bibi, Barrister Gohar, and others.

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check reverse-searched keyframes from the video in the claim and found the exact still posted (archive) by the Facebook page ‘Daily Qudrat’. The image was captioned:

“بھارتی جارحیت: وزیراعظم نے قومی سلامتی کمیٹی کا اجلاس طلب کرلیا”

[Indian aggression: The Prime Minister has convened a meeting of the National Security Committee.]

While this still matches the one in the video in the claim, Ali Amin Gandapur is not visible in it.

Since the image was shared on 7 May, we searched for news reports and footage from that day and found an article by The Nation featuring the same still, which also does not include Gandapur. The article, titled “NSC condemns Indian strikes as acts of war, vows retaliation under UN Charter,” stated that the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and attended by senior military and civilian leadership, had strongly condemned the Indian airstrikes in Pakistan carried out in the early hours of 7 May. The NSC convened on the same day and authorised the armed forces of Pakistan to respond to India’s attacks “in self-defence, at a time, place, and manner of its choosing to avenge the loss of innocent Pakistani lives and blatant violation of its sovereignty.”

The article did not mention the KP Chief Minister’s presence at the meeting. We also reviewed other images and coverage of the meeting by the Government of Pakistan and news outlets, but none had reported Gandapur’s attendance.

According to ARY, the meeting was attended by federal ministers, the heads of Pakistan’s armed forces, and the National Security Adviser.

Soch Fact Check then searched for recent press conferences held by Ali Amin Gandapur and found the complete version of his clip used in the viral video. The extended version shared by Express News on 17 March was titled “Phir Ehtajaj Ka Faisla? | Ali Amin Gandapur Lashes Out At Federal Govt | Pakistan News.” In the video, Gandapur is seen seated next to Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, advisor to the Chief Minister on Information and public relations and the segment from 7:00 to 8:30 matches the portion used in the viral clip.

The same footage was also shared by the Facebook page Daily Qudrat on 17 March, with the caption: “علی امین گنڈاپور کی اچانک خطرناک پریس کانفرنس نے سب کو چونکا دیا”

[Ali Amin Gandapur’s sudden dangerous press conference shocks everyone!]

The Chief Minister’s press conference was held in March 2025, nearly two months before the particular NSC meeting shown in the video in the claim. Gandapur did not make these statements during any NSC meeting or in the presence of the country’s top civilian and military leadership.

Given that Gandapur’s surroundings in the press conference differ entirely from those seen in the viral video, we conclude that two unrelated videos have been edited together. Furthermore, coverage by news outlets and the Government of Pakistan does not mention that Gandapur attended the National Security Committee meeting held on 7 May 2025.

Virality

The claim was shared here (archive) on Facebook.

On Instagram, it was shared here (archive).

It was also shared here (archive) on TikTok.

Conclusion: The video in the claim is doctored. Moreover, there is no evidence to suggest that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was present at the National Security Committee meeting on 7 May 2025.
