Claim: Video shows participants at the Overseas Pakistanis Convention 2025 chanting slogans of Qaidi No. 804.
Fact: No such slogans are heard in the video. Instead, participants seem to be chanting in support of the Pakistani armed forces and the government.
On 15 April 2025, a video on YouTube claimed that overseas Pakistanis chanted slogans of Qaidi No. 804, which is a reference to the jailed former premier Imran Khan, at a convention attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
Fact or Fiction?
The chants that are heard in the video between 0:01–0:03 and 0:24–0:49 are distorted and not easy to understand. To verify its origin, a reverse-image search of its keyframes was conducted. This led us to videos on Facebook, Instagram, and X that shared the same keyframes as the video in the claim. An example of this can be seen below:
The videos’ captions indicated that it was from the Overseas Pakistani Convention 2025. A Google search for “Overseas Pakistani Convention 2025” revealed it was a three-day event held in Islamabad, from 13–15 April 2025, “to recognize expatriates’ contribution to the national economy and address their issues”.
We also found a video by Dialogue Pakistan on Threads via the reverse-image search. This contained much clearer audio of the chants, and people can be heard saying “Pak Fauj Zindabad”.
To locate versions of the video with clearer audio, we searched for “Overseas Pakistani Convention 2025” on YouTube. Several local news channels including SAMAA TV, 24 News, and Dawn had covered the event, particularly the speeches made by the Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
The video by Dawn caught our attention as it was titled “Unexpected Chants After National Anthem Ends During Convention for Overseas Pakistanis”. Though the video’s caption did not describe what was actually chanted, its audio was slightly clearer than in the video in the claim.
We then consulted Shaur Azher, an audio engineer at our sister company Soch Videos, who specialises in sound design and mixing, as well as mastering audio. Azher’s detailed audio analysis of the video posted by Dawn found that the words “Qaidi No. 804” did not appear anywhere. The chants heard in this video are as follows:
- Pak Fauj Zindabad
- Nawaz Sharif Bholatmand (meaning “Nawaz Sharif is innocent”)
- Shehbaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif – Asim Munir, Asim Munir
- Pakistan, Pakistan
Similarly, a spectrogram analysis of the video also found that the words “Qaidi No. 804” were not heard in the video in the claim. Rather, the chant “Pak Fauj Zindabad” was looped repeatedly, and the chant “Nawaz Sharif Bholatmand” was added to the audio using crossfade editing. Along with this, the audio clarity was extremely low, allowing room for misinterpretation and making it sound as if people were chanting “Qaidi No. 804”.
Hence, Soch Fact Check rates this claim as false.
Virality
On YouTube, the video has amassed 246 K views.
On Instagram, it was shared here.
On TikTok, it was shared here.
Conclusion: The video in the claim has been manipulated to make it sound as if people were chanting “Qaidi No. 804”. Instead, the video actually shows participants at the Overseas Pakistanis Convention 2025 chanting slogans in support of the Pakistani armed forces and the government.
