About Us

Soch Fact Check is a non-partisan organisation dedicated to sorting fact from fiction. False news has the potential to mislead citizens, sway elections, and endanger lives. Our goal is to stop the spread of misinformation and disinformation by promoting accuracy in media and public discourse. We are Pakistan's only local signatory to the International Fact-Checking Network's Code of Principles, as well as Meta's only local Third-Party Fact-Checking partner.

Soch Fact Check is a sister organisation of Soch Videos and Soch Media.

Meet our team

Zainab Husain
Managing Editor

Zainab Husain is the managing editor of Soch Fact Check. She previously worked as a video producer at Soch Videos, where she has produced documentaries about politics, gender justice, urban planning and human rights. She has a BA in Social Anthropology from SOAS, University of London and an MPhil in Planning, Growth and Regeneration at the University of Cambridge.

Haseem uz Zaman
Senior Fact Checker

Haseem uz Zaman is a journalist and fact-checker at Soch Fact Check. Previously associated with Geo News, they have extensive news-building and editorial experience and divide their time between reading, photography, and activism. Their areas of interest include gender, minority rights, intersectionality, class and oppression, as well as protests.

Sameen Aziz
Fact Checker

Sameen Aziz is a fact-checker at Soch Fact Check. She has previously worked as a social media manager for Pakistani writer Nemrah Ahmed. She also works as a freelance writer. She is pursuing an MS in Media and Communication Studies from the International Islamic University.In her free time, she enjoys photography, reading and gardening.

Anisa Shabir
Fact Checker

Anisa Shabir is a fact-checker at Soch Fact Check. She was previously an investigative reporter at the Arizona State University’s Howard Center for Investigative Journalism. She has been recognized for best community service project/reporting in the 2023 EPPY Awards and won the A-Mark prize for Reporting on Misinformation and Disinformation. Her work has been featured in The Associated Press, Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting (AZCIR), Cronkite News, and Dawn. She holds an MA in investigative journalism from Cronkite School

Raza Ijaz
Junior Fact Checker

Raza Ijaz is a junior fact-checker at Soch Fact Check. He previously worked as an editor and reviewer and holds a BA in English from Lahore University of Management Sciences.

Ayesha Mirza
Junior Fact Checker

Ayesha Mirza is a junior fact-checker at Soch Fact Check. She has a BA in Politics and International Relations from Queen Mary, University of London. Her areas of interest include social justice, climate change, minority rights and gender issues.

Sofyan Sultan

Sofyan Sultan studied at Brown University, SOAS, and University College London. He is the Co-founder of Soch and director of Green & White (Private) Limited.

Arafat Mazhar

Arafat Mazhar is the Co-Founder of Soch and he sits on the advisory board. He is currently serving as a director at Engage and Shehri Pakistan.

Nizamuddin Khan

Nizamuddin Khan is a journalist who co-founded the Khorasan Diary. He previously headed the largest youth body in the tribal areas (formerly FATA).
