Claim: A video shows US B-2 bombers heading towards Iran.

Fact: The footage shows a B-2 bomber and four F-35 fighter jets flying over Alaska during the Trump-Putin summit on 15 August 2025.

On 1 November 2026, a Facebook page named “Rule Over Power” shared a video claiming that US B-2 bombers were heading towards Iran, suggesting the possibility of a nuclear war.

The video carries the on-screen text “B2 BOMBER heading To Iran” and a caption claiming that the aircraft are heading towards Iran and that nuclear war could follow.

The footage shows military aircraft flying in formation over trees and buildings under an overcast sky.

Fact or Fiction?

To trace the footage, Soch Fact Check extracted keyframes from the viral Facebook reel and conducted reverse image searches. These searches led to an earlier video uploaded by the YouTube channel VH Aviation on 15 August 2025. Titled “USAF B-2 Spirit and F-35 flyover during Putin’s visit to Anchorage,” the video shows the same aircraft formation and background as the viral clip. Its description identifies a B-2 Spirit bomber and F-35 fighter jets flying over Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, during the summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A comparison of the viral clip with footage uploaded by VH Aviation in August 2025 shows the same aircraft formation, trees, and buildings.

VH Aviation also uploaded another video titled “USAF B-2 and F-35s fly over Putin in Anchorage” showing the flyover during the summit. Both uploads predate the circulating claim by more than a year.

Soch Fact Check then checked the US military’s Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS) archive. A photograph credited to US Air Force photographer Nicholas Holland shows a B-2 Spirit bomber and four F-35 Lightning II fighter jets during a flyover at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. According to DVIDS, the photograph was taken on 15 August 2025 and published on 26 August 2025. A second photograph, taken by Moises Vasquez on 15 August 2025, also documents the aircraft flying over the base.

Contemporaneous reporting supports the same account. The War Zone reported on 15 August 2025 that a B-2 bomber accompanied by four F-35 fighter jets flew over the base as Trump and Putin greeted each other. Air & Space Forces Magazine independently reported the same flyover and identified the aircraft as one B-2 Spirit and four F-35s.

The earlier footage, official photographs, and contemporary reporting establish that the video shows the 15 August 2025 flyover in Anchorage, Alaska, not bombers heading towards Iran. This finding does not establish whether any separate US military deployments towards Iran were taking place at the time.

Virality

The claim circulated on Facebook and X in late October and early November 2026.

An X post shared by @MrImranPk on 31 October 2026 received approximately 348,300 views, 742 reposts, and 2,165 likes when its engagement figures were recorded.

The claim was also shared by the Facebook page “Rule Over Power” on 1 November 2026.

Conclusion: Soch Fact Check found the claim to be false. The footage shows a B-2 bomber and four F-35 fighter jets flying over Alaska during the Trump-Putin summit on 15 August 2025, not US bombers heading towards Iran.
