Claim: A video shows Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Shahid Khattak slapping a facilitator of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz over unethical behavior.

Fact: The viral video does not show Khattak; it is old and unrelated.

On 21 June, a Facebook user, Rahim Gojali, posted a video in which a person can be seen approaching another man in the National Assembly.

The caption of this video states:

شاہد خٹک نے قومی اسمبلی کے فلور کے اوپر نون لیگ کے ایک سہولت کار ایک غیر اخلاقی رویے کے اوپر ایسا تھپڑ مارا کہ تاریخ یاد رکھے گی

[Translation: Shahid Khattak gave such a slap to a facilitator of PML-N over unethical behavior that history will remember it.]

The video has been widely shared with the claim across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X.

Chaos at 2026 budget session

The video surfaced after it was reported that PTI members tore budget documents in protest during the session and threw pieces towards Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to Dawn, the MNAs of PML-N made a human shield around the prime minister. Other than this, it has also been reported that PTI MNA Shahid Khattak had a scuffle with some MNAs due to which security staff at the National Assembly had to intervene.

When Khattak was asked in an interview whether he slapped someone during a scuffle in the parliament, he said that during a routine protest in front of the speaker’s dice someone snatched the budget papers from his hand and also pushed him. “And when you push a Pathan then a reaction is expected,” Khattak added. About slapping someone, the PTI MNA said that if the reporters would have made a video from the top then they would have known whether anyone was slapped or not. However, Khattak added, he did not leave anything behind, referring to the person who snatched budget papers from him.

Fact or Fiction?

Although Khattak admitted to a scuffle, the video being fact-checked does not show any torn papers flying, nor does it seem like it happened during a protest as said by Khattak. In fact, in the video a man can be seen going towards another person specifically to slap him.

reverse image search

Therefore, Soch Fact Check, reverse-searched a keyframe from the video and found that it was an old video from 2025. In it, PTI’s Khalid Nisar Dogar can be seen striking PML-N’s Hasan Riaz during a Punjab Assembly session.

Keyframe that was reverse-searched

It was reported that the slap came after Riaz was alleged to have used derogatory language. After the scuffle, Dogar and Riaz were suspended for 15 sessions.

Based on the results of the reverse-search and credible news reports , Soch Fact Check concludes that the viral video is old and unrelated to the recent.

Virality

Besides the account that has posted the video that is being fact-checked, it can be found on three profiles on Facebook, one of which has 2.3 million followers. It can be found on two profiles each on Instagram, X and TikTok.

Conclusion: The viral video is from a Punjab Assembly session in 2025, not from the National Assembly session in 2026. It also does not show Khattak striking anyone.
