Claim: The Washington Post reported that US President Donald Trump has accepted Iran as a nuclear power and signed a deal accepting all of Iran’s conditions.
Fact: Trump has not signed any deal with Iran and has not accepted the country as a nuclear power. There is no such report by The Washington Post either, and the video in the claim appears to include AI-generated audio.
On 23 April a reel was posted on a Facebook page, titled ‘Sach Ki Awaaz’ (Voice of Truth)
The video features photos of an American-Israeli journalist Emily Schrader, Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. The audio is a voiceover in Urdu and says:
[Translation: United States President Donald Trump has taken the biggest and most insulting U-turn in his life by bowing down before Iran. And has announced the signing of that agreement of nuclear deal which he had been cursing for a long time. Today, Trump is forced to lick his own spit. A decision has been made to accept Iran as a nuclear power.
This report from The Washington Post has caused a scene of mourning from White House to Tel Aviv because Trump’s Pharoah-like arrogance will be seeing its downfall forever. The person who was claiming to wipe out Iran has now given an open hand to American negotiators that they should make a deal by accepting every condition of Iran. This is that historic defeat of Trump where he has to accept that he cannot make Iran bow down to his power. After running a tough campaign, imposing economic bans and nuclear attacks against Iran, Trump’s backing out proves that Tehran’s tigers have stabbed the superpower.
The Washington Post has claimed that the new deal features the same conditions which Trump would criticise in the past. But now, Iran’s increasing nuclear power and global pressure has forced this cunning president to take this insulting U-turn. The failure of naval blockade in the Middle East and Iran’s resistance have pushed the US towards the wall. The president who chants the slogans of a “Great America” is pleading to agree on Tehran’s conditions.
This news has also shocked Israel because acceptance of Iran as a nuclear power will prove to be the last attack against the existence of the enemy. This is the beginning of Trump’s political death. It has been proved that now only truth will prevail in the world.

US-Israel war with Iran
The US and Israel have been threatening Iran to give up its nuclear program. The two countries attacked Iran on 28 February 2026. The attack escalated into a war that impacted the global oil supply and humanitarian aid to countries in need of it as Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. The US agreed to a two-week ceasefire on 7 April, but since then talks for a wider settlement have slowed down.
On 16 April, Trump warned Iran by saying the “clock is ticking” as the talks have stalled.
“They better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform. “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”
On the other hand, Al Jazeera cited Iran’s Mehr news agency on 17 May as saying that the US has failed to make any concessions in its latest response to Iran’s proposed agenda for negotiations to end the war. It further stated this “will lead to an impasse in the negotiations”.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check searched The Washington Post to find whether there was any news about Trump signing any deal with Iran or the US president accepting Iran as a nuclear power. We found no news suggesting that Trump had agreed to sign any deal with Iran or that the president had accepted Iran as a nuclear power.
A major development such as this one would be widely reported if it were true. Even Trump’s social media accounts did not mention anything claimed in the reel. Nevertheless, we ran a basic Google search for any such news and found only updates regarding the ceasefire between US and Iran. The search on Trump signing any deal with Iran showed results from 20 April when he said that a peace deal between US and Iran will be signed in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Moreover, we also checked for Trump’s public announcements around the time the reel was shared on social media i.e. 23 April, and not from May 2026. A message regarding a potential “deal” with Iran was posted by him on 20 April on Truth Social in which he said:
“The DEAL that we are making with Iran will be FAR BETTER than the JCPOA, commonly referred to as “The Iran Nuclear Deal,” penned by Barack Hussein Obama and Sleepy Joe Biden, one of the Worst Deals ever made having to do with the Security of our Country. It was a guaranteed Road to a Nuclear Weapon, which will not, and cannot, happen with the Deal we’re working on. They actually gave $1.7 Billion Dollars in “GREEN” Cash, loaded into a Boeing 757, and flown to Iran for Iranian leadership to spend anyway they saw fit. He emptied out all of the Cash from Banks in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. Those Bankers said they’ve never seen anything like it before. In addition, Hundreds of Billions of Dollars was paid to Iran. If I did not terminate that “Deal,” Nuclear Weapons would have been used on Israel, and all over the Middle East, including our cherished U.S. Military Bases. The Fake News, like Lightweight Washington Post “Journalist” David Ignatius, loves to talk about the JCPOA, knowing that it was DANGEROUS, and a Complete Embarrassment to our Country. If a Deal happens under “TRUMP,” it will guarantee Peace, Security, and Safety, not only for Israel and the Middle East, but for Europe, America, and everywhere else. It will be something that the entire World will be proud of, instead of the years of Embarrassment and Humiliation that we have been forced to suffer due to incompetent and cowardly leadership! Trump was likely referring to the opinion piece by Ignatius, published in The Washington Post on 16 April. In the opinion piece, Ignatius has written that Trump did not want war any more but rather wanted to tighten the rope further on Iran’s economy in order to get them to submit. He also wrote that despite weeks of intense bombardment Iran still held “major cards in the remnants of its nuclear program and its ability to disrupt shipping through the Stair of Hormuz”.
JCPOA stands for Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and it is likely the deal mentioned in the reel that is being fact-checked. It was signed on 14 July 2015 by the P5+1 countries: China, France, Germany, Russia, United Kingdom, the US, and Iran. Its purpose was to limit Iran’s nuclear program and to assure the signatories that it would not continue progress towards a nuclear weapon. This agreement allowed Iran to keep a small amount of low-enrichment Uranium that would be tracked to ensure it is not used to make weapons. However, in 2018 the US alone withdrew from JCPOA under Trump, who said the deal was not doing enough. He imposed harsh sanctions on Iran thereafter. After returning to office in 2025, Trump again started exerting pressure against Iran and initiated negotiations on its nuclear program. Israel, on the other hand, was completely against the negotiations and has wanted to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program.
Other than doing a basic search on Google, we also ran the reel through Hive Moderation, a service that reviews user-generated content.

The result showed that the video is not AI-generated but the audio is 99.3% likely to be AI-generated.
Our sound engineer, Shaur Azher, also analysed the audio and concluded that it is a voiceover which is digitally manufactured and was not recorded by a human.Other than this, technical evidence shows that the audio does not have any physical imperfections of a genuine human voice, neither are any breathing or mouth clicks present in the sample. A robotic consistency was found in the pitch and rhythm. It is artificially generated Text-to-Speech, which means the audio was generated based on the text entered for it.
Based on the result from the AI detection tool, as well as audio analysis by our sound engineer and search results for latest news on the US-Iran negotiations, Soch Fact Check concludes that the viral reel makes a false claim using AI-generated audio.
