On 12 May 2026, several accounts on Facebook shared an image of PTI activist Sanam Javed lying on a hospital bed with a bruised eye. An account named Aliya Hamza captioned the picture:
صنم جاوید خان کو ہسپتال منتقل کرنا کسی نارمل صورتحال کی نشانی نہیں۔ یہ لوگ کسی قیدی کو اُس وقت تک ہسپتال نہیں لاتے جب تک حالت انتہائی خراب نہ ہو جائے۔ افسوس کہ صنم جاوید کو نہ فیملی سے ملنے دیا جا رہا ہے اور نہ ہی اہلِ خانہ کو مکمل طور پر آگاہ کیا جا رہا ہے، حالانکہ یہ بنیادی حق قانون اور آئین دونوں دیتے ہیں۔
اقتدار والوں کے گھروں میں بھی مائیں، بہنیں اور بیٹیاں موجود ہیں۔ کیا وہ اپنی ماں یا بیٹی کو اس حالت میں تڑپتا دیکھ سکتے ہیں؟ اگر نہیں، تو پھر دوسروں کی ماؤں اور بیٹیوں پر یہ ظلم کیوں؟

Translation: [Transferring Sanam Javed to a hospital is not normal. They don’t transfer prisoners to a hospital unless their condition is really bad. It is upsetting that Sanam Javed is unable to meet her parents and her relatives are also completely unaware of her condition, when both the law and the constitution give this right. Those in power also have mothers, sisters and daughters in their homes. Can they see their own mother or daughter suffering like this? If not, then why this cruelty on others’ mothers and daughters. Sanam Javed should be allowed to meet her family immediately and should be given the best treatment. How long will this cruelty and fascism last?]
A social media user on X also shared the image and wrote in the caption:
صنم جاوید نے ہمیشہ ہارتی کا مقدمہ اور بیانیہ بہترین انداز میں لڑا ہے آج وہ بیمار ہے اس کی والدہ اور شوہر بچے ہسپتال میں موجود ہے لیکن صنم جاوید سے نہیں مل سکتے ۔۔
آج صنم جاوید کو میری اور اپ کی ضرورت ہے ہم نے اس کیلئے آواز اٹھانی ہے کہ صنم جاوید کے ساتھ انصاف کیا جائے فیملی کو ان تک رسائی دی جائے ۔۔
Translation: [Sanam Javed has always fought the case and narrative in the best possible manner. Today, she is ill; her mother, husband, and children are present at the hospital but cannot meet Sanam Javed. Today, Sanam Javed needs me and you. We must raise our voice for her so that justice is served with Sanam Javed and her family is granted access to her.]

Sanam Javed hospitalised
On 11 August 2025, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore sentenced PTI activist Sanam Javed to five years in prison, in a case related to 9 May protests. On 11 May 2026, Javed was shifted to Jinnah Hospital, Lahore from Kot Lakhpat Jail after her condition deteriorated. According to Samaa, her husband said that she was brought to the hospital due to eye and stomach problems.
The report also quoted prison authorities who said that she was first provided medical aid in jail but was later shifted to a hospital after her condition worsened.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check first looked for visual discrepancies like the white board hanging behind Javed which mentioned her details. For instance, the “Dr.” section reads “ICU TEAM” instead of a practitioner’s name.
Moreover, a news article by Samaa reported that the activist was admitted in Jinnah Hospital, Lahore whereas the logo printed on the pillowcase says “hrvv CITY HOSPITAL” which seems to be distorted gibberish.
The monitor beside her also displays several wave lines, but it lacks standard medical labels like blood pressure, heart rate, etc. It is also not clear what the numbers visible on the monitor (18, 5.6, 12 and 40) indicate. These visual discrepancies suggest that the image is likely AI-generated.

For further confirmation, Soch Fact Check ran the image through the online detection tool, Hive Moderation. It gave the image a rating of 99.9%, concluding that it is most likely AI-generated.

Soch Fact Check also ran the image through Image Whisperer, another AI-generated content detection tool. According to its verdict, the image is AI-generated, made with the help of Gptimage2, a state-of-the-art image generation model owned by OpenAI. It provided the following details to support its verdict:
“The image exhibits signs of AI generation, including overly smooth skin textures and inconsistencies in the medical equipment’s mechanical details. The text on the whiteboard is rendered with a digital clarity that often appears in synthetic imagery, and the “Mindray” monitor display lacks the complex, slightly irregular pixel noise found in real-world screen captures. The lighting is remarkably consistent across the entire frame, lacking the subtle variations in shadow and reflection typical of a real hospital room.”

To confirm the results, Soch Fact Check also used AI or Not, developed by Bioptic, an American tech company founded by former Google product director Andrey Doronichev.
It gave a rating of 100%, and also stated that the image is likely AI-generated.

While there have been no recent updates of Sanam Javed still being in the hospital, the results from AI detection tools and the visual discrepancies obvious in the picture confirm that the image is AI-generated.

Soch Fact Check first came across a viral post on Facebook with as many as 1600 likes and 603 shares that was picked up by other accounts and pages as well. It was also widely shared on X with one post garnering 39,000 views.
