Claim: A video claims US President Donald Trump carried a white flag and bowed down, after accepting defeat in the US-Israel war against Iran.
Fact: The claim is false, and the clip is likely AI-generated.
On 8 April 2026, a Facebook page, named AK Today, posted a reel of Trump climbing down a plane while carrying a white flag in his hand. The video ends with him kneeling as he throws the flag on the other side.
The text on video reads:
ایران امریکہ جنگ بندی کا اعلان ٹرمپ نے آخر کار سفید جھنڈا اٹھا کر گٹھنے ٹیک دیے اور شکست تسلیم کر لی”
تہران کے سڑکوں پر شہریوں کا جشن سجدا شکر ادا کر دیا اللہ تعالی شہداء کی درجات بلندکرے آمین
Translation: [Trump finally raises the white flag, bows to the allies and admits defeat after announcing a ceasefire between Iran and the US. Citizens celebrated on the streets of Tehran, prostrated and thanked God, may God raise the ranks of the martyrs, Amen.]
The page is based in Balochistan and categorises itself as a journalist, according to its ‘About’ section. The video garnered as many as 442,000 views.
US-Israel war on Iran
On 28 February 2026, the US and Israel launched a joint offensive codenamed “Operation Epic Fury” and “Operation Roaring Lion,” respectively, and assassinated Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family members, as well as numerous top military and security officials, leading to the appointment of his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the successor on 9 March.
The conflict has seen significant casualties, with Iran’s Health Ministry reporting over 2,000 deaths — including 160 children in a school bombing in Minab — and 26,500 wounded people, as well as the displacement of 3.2 million people, alongside the targeting of the historic Golestan Palace.
In retaliation, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz to most international traffic and launched drone and missile strikes against US bases and regional targets, causing casualties across Israel and the Gulf states.
Islamabad Talks
Pakistan-led mediation efforts eventually culminated in a two-week ceasefire on 8 April, with the “Islamabad Talks” announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The discussions were held on 11 April.
The Iranian delegation, composed of the Speaker of the Iranian Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghch. On the other hand the US delegation included US Vice President JD Vance, US Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The discussions ended after 21 hours without reaching a deal. However, another round of dialogue is on the table, and is being actively pursued by Pakistan. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also mentioned during a presser on 15 April 2026 that the next round of talks will likely be held in the “same place as before,” hinting US delegation’s another trip to Islamabad.
Vance and his team were expected to arrive on the morning of 22 April, but the White House changed plans. There has been no update from Iran’s negotiating delegation either. However, for the last five days, the area around the old airport and the Red Zone area in Islamabad remains closed. The restriction has confined the residents of Shah Faisal Colony, Khalid Colony, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Fazal Town and other areas to their homes.
While there is no green light from either of the foreign delegations, goods transport has also been suspended since 19 April, causing significant disruption for the public.
Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check conducted a reverse-image search for the video, and found a link redirecting to an 8 April X post by the official account of the Iran Embassy in Tajikistan.
On 8 April 2026, the embassy posted the video with the caption, “I have accepted all ten conditions set by Iran for a ceasefire, and do not accept any statement other than this from me, as it would be false. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Donald J.Trump.”
The post appears to be mocking Trump. Previous posts on the embassy’s X account show that it trolls the US president by posting AI-generated content, with one of the recent examples showing a Jesus-like figure throwing Trump into a volcano. The video is a modification of Trump’s now-deleted Truth Social post where he posted a picture of himself standing in a white robe placing a hand on a man’s head. Trump posted the image on 13 April 2026 after calling Pope Leo XIV “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy” after he appealed for peace and reconciliation during his African tour. The Pope responded to Trump’s remarks, saying he “does not fear the Trump administration.”
On 22 April 2026, Trump announced an extension of the two-week ceasefire “upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif,” until Tehran submits a unified proposal. The recent update does not mention anything about Trump accepting defeat nor has the White House issued any such statements.
AI-detection results
A visual analysis of the claim being fact-checked also revealed several technical discrepancies that indicate the clip is likely AI-generated.
As Trump is walking down the stairs, the white flag and the wooden pole appear to merge with his hands and suit. His legs appear to wobble and it seems like they are shape-shifting on the time stamp of 0:01.

Trump’s hand and the pole lack clear definition

Trump’s legs wobble as he walks down the stairs
The flag’s movement appears to be unnatural i.e. it is not flowing how it would due to natural wind. Moreover, his hands and fingers appear blurred and distorted, especially while holding the pole. When he kneels at the end of the clip, his legs and shoes lack clear definition and seem to morph into the ground.
Moreover, the presidential seal on the aircraft seems like gibberish, and the white flag completely vanishes in the end after Trump throws it away.

The white flag disappears
Soch Fact Check also tested the video in the Global Online Deepfake Detection System (GODDS), a tool developed by Northwestern University’s Security & AI Lab (NSAIL) that uses a combination of various models along with human analysis to provide a holistic summary of the results.
Two trained analysts examined the clip. GODDS also used 22 deepfake detection algorithms, to analyse the visual content, and other 70 algorithms for the audio component.
All predictive models for the visual and audio content said the video “is likely to be fake.”
- The video is likely to be fake with a probability above 0.5, according to 2 of the 22 predictive models; it is likely to be fake with a probability below 0.5, according to the 20 other predictive models.
- The audio is likely to be fake with a probability above 0.5, according to 53 of the 70 predictive models; it is likely to be fake with a probability below 0.5, according to the 17 remaining predictive models.
On the other hand, the human analysts concluded that this video contains “several indicators” that show it may be digitally manipulated via AI. For example, Trump’s “hands blend into the white flag he is carrying” during the first 11 seconds and after he drops the flag, they “remain blurry and shapeless”.
Moreover, they said, “The Air Force One’s emblem appears with unintelligible text, instead of the usual English script (e.g., 0:01-0:07, 0:10-0:14).”
The analysts further pointed out, “The subject’s facial features are largely obscured by poor video quality, despite the majority of the video’s features remaining detailed and clear. It is difficult to discern possible facial manipulations because of this poor video quality.”
