Claim: A video shows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house on fire following an Iranian strike.
Fact: The viral clip predates the ongoing conflict and actually shows a residential house fire in Galloway Township, New Jersey.
A Facebook user shared a video showing a house on fire. It contained the following text:
“بریکنگ نیوز دل کو سکون دینے والی خبر ایران کا نیتن یاہو کے گھر پر حملہ
نیتن یاہو کے بھائی جہنم وأصل ہو گیا۔ شیر کرنے”
[Translation: Breaking news: A heart-satisfying piece of news: an attack on Netanyahu’s house in Iran. Netanyahu’s brother has been sent to hell. Share it.]
US-Israel launch strikes in Iran
On 28 February 2026, the US and Israel launched coordinated airstrikes across multiple locations in Iran, reportedly targeting military installations and strategic infrastructure. The attacks marked a dramatic escalation in regional tensions and triggered a broader conflict between Iran and US and Israel. In the opening hours of the campaign, a missile strike destroyed the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ elementary school in Minab in southern Iran. The strike occurred during school hours and caused the collapse of the building’s roof, killing at least 165 people, mostly schoolchildren, and injuring dozens more. Investigations by international journalists and open-source analysts later indicated that the strike was likely caused by a US Tomahawk missile aimed at a nearby military facility.
Following the airstrikes, Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks against US military bases and infrastructure across the Gulf including installations in countries hosting American forces. The conflict has also spread to Israeli territory through Iranian missile launches. Over 1,300 have died in Iran while US forces have reported at least 13 military personnel killed during the escalation. The fighting has also displaced millions of civilians, damaged infrastructure across several parts of the region, and caused air travel disruptions around the world.
Iran has also sought to exert economic pressure by disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz – one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes through which roughly one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments pass. Disruptions in the strait have therefore triggered a sharp increase in global oil prices and heightened volatility in energy markets. For Pakistan, which relies heavily on imported fuel from Gulf suppliers, the surge in oil prices has had immediate economic consequences. Rising global prices have already contributed to increases in domestic petrol and diesel prices, while economists warn that prolonged disruptions could widen Pakistan’s trade deficit, place additional pressure on the rupee, and intensify inflation in an already fragile economic environment.
Fact or Fiction?
The viral post claimed that the video shows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house following an Iranian attack. However, if such an incident had occurred, it would likely have been widely reported by local and international news outlets. A keyword search to check whether Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence had been targeted by an Iranian airstrike did not yield any credible results however, Soch Fact Check has not looked into this specific claim further.
A reverse-image search of keyframes from the viral video traced itto a Facebook post shared on 9 February 2026 by the photography account HCB Photography, which documents emergency incidents in Atlantic County, New Jersey. The post was captioned: 🔥Happening Now: Park Place, Galloway, NJ
10:47pm | 16° | #⅔
The HCB post on Facebook was the earliest instance of the photograph, and, therefore, likely its original source online.
Soch Fact Check then found a report published on 10 February by an Atlantic City news outlet BreakingAC, which reported that a residential fire broke out late on 8 February at 629 Park Place. The homeowner called for help after waking up to the sound of smoke detectors and the smell of smoke. All occupants were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. Firefighters from several nearby departments responded, but extreme cold, ice, and snow made firefighting efforts difficult. Authorities said the cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear suspicious.
The report’s cover image appeared to be a still from the video shared by HCB Photography while the Facebook post by HCB was also embedded in the article. This indicated that the viral clip actually shows a house fire in Galloway Township, and not Netanyahu’s home in Israel.
Soch Fact Check found additional news reports confirming that a residential fire broke out late on 8 February in Galloway Township, New Jersey. According to the Galloway Township Police Department, officers and volunteer firefighters responded to a call at around 10:30 pm. at 629 Park Place. Emergency crews arriving at the scene observed heavy smoke coming from the attached garage of the house, and the fire quickly spread through the residence taking hours to extinguish.
Since the video first appeared online on 9 February 2026 in connection with a fire at a Galloway Township house, well before the beginning of the Iran and US-Israel war, Soch Fact Check concludes that the viral clip is unrelated to the claim.
