On 11 February, X users posted a video apparently showing attacks in the Poonch and Baramulla areas of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check reverse-searched keyframes and found that the clip is old.
On 14 August 2024, a Facebook account posted the same clip (archive) with the following description: “*A Captain of the Indian Army from the 48 Rashtriya Rifles killed during the ongoing Op Assar in Doda district. Operations are still in progress: Defence officials”.

Moreover, an X account posted a longer version of the footage (archive) on 14 August 2024, with a description citing a similar incident in Doda, in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. It stated: “The footage of the encounter from #Patnitop, Doda earlier, Fierce gun fight, including explosions can be heard from a distance. These are not normal terrorists, they are well armed and seem to have plenty of ammo.”
According to Indian news publications, an Indian army officer was reportedly killed in the Doda district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir during an encounter with “terrorists” in August 2024.
Furthermore, a keyword search did not yield any reports of explosions or attacks in Baramulla or Poonch that killed or injured Indian soldiers recently. We did, however, find reports on a landmine explosion in the Poonch area that injured one person on 11 February and other reports indicate an “anti-personnel mine blast” that injured an Indian Junior Commissioned Officer in the Baramulla district.
Soch Fact Check cannot confirm, and could not find credible reports of explosions or attacks on Indian soldiers cited in viral posts. However, we can confirm that the video being linked to an operation in Doda district in August 2024 is old.
