Claim: A few videos and images on social media show Lahore experiencing snowfall in January 2026.

Fact: The photos and videos in question actually depict the aftermath of a hailstorm. Lahore did not experience snowfall.

Social media users have taken to sharing photos, videos, and posts depicting visuals of snowfall in Lahore, from mid-to late January 2026. One X post, in particular, likens Lahore to Toronto rather than Paris, showing visuals from a section of the Wagah Heritage Corridor covered in snow.

The video is as follows:

Vehicles can be seen travelling along the Wagah Heritage Corridor, with seemingly snow-covered roads.

The caption states: “Lahore is done being Paris, it is Toronto now,” implying that the snow makes its weather similar to Canada’s largest city.

The user behind the post (@sohailabid) continued to respond in the comments, clarifying that this post is intended to be a joke, and it is actually from a hailstorm. However, other posts on Facebook and Instagram shared content indicating the claim to be true.

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check could not find any reports or weather updates of snowfall in Lahore from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which is the trusted authority on national weather events. Other weather reports from the date the claim was posted also do not depict any snowfall. Instead, we found reports from Dawn and Suno News of hailstorms across Lahore on 22 January 2026.

The misleading nature of the posts being fact-checked is likely due to the ice and hail, which appear white and resemble snowfall. Previously, Soch Fact Check debunked a previous claim of an intense cold spell forecast between 16 and 25 January 2026.

Therefore, Soch Fact Check rates the claim as false.

Virality

The claim appeared on Facebook here, here and here.

It was shared on Instagram here, here, and here. It was shared on X here and here.

Conclusion:

The claim is false. It is not substantiated by any credible reports or evidence of such weather events.
