Claim: An image shows Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir addressing a recent Corps Commanders’ Conference while sitting behind bulletproof glass.

Fact: The picture is fake. An authentic photo of Munir from the 273rd Corps Commanders’ Conference was manipulated using Google’s AI tools to depict him sitting behind bulletproof glass.

On 27 December 2025, X (formerly Twitter) user @SabeeKazmi786 posted (archive) a photo showing Pakistan’s defence chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, apparently sitting behind bulletproof glass while addressing a Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi.

@SabeeKazmi786 wrote the following caption:

“یہ کور کمانڈر کانفرنس میں بلٹ پروف شیشے کی کیا ضرورت ہوتی ہے؟
[What is the need for bulletproof glass at the Corps Commanders’ Conference?]”

Fact or Fiction?

Soch Fact Check reverse-searched the image and found it to be a still from the 273rd Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at the GHQ, according to a press release issued 24 December 2025 by the army’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The conference was presided over by Field Marshal Munir where it was “resolved that no malicious interest, political or otherwise, aimed at undermining national unity, security and stability would be tolerated, nor would anyone be allowed to create divisions between the Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan”, the press release read.

A range of matters pertaining to national security and development were discussed at the event and prayers for soldiers and civilians killed in terrorist incidents were offered, it added. It also included a link to a YouTube video, which contains visuals from the conference sans audio.

In the entire video, we did not see any evidence of the defence chief sitting behind bulletproof glass.

We also observed reflections of the camera flashes behind Munir; this is perhaps what some social media commentators are claiming to be the evidence of a bulletproof glass.

However, these were actually reflected in the marble wall behind the defence chief as is evident from texture visible in the flashes.

Moreover, the reflection on an actual glass would be brighter. For our readers’ reference, we are highlighting the same below:

We also checked if the viral photo contains SynthID, an imperceptible watermark embedded in all content generated by Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

This can be done through SynthID Detector, which currently works through Gemini in Pakistan. According to the tool, “Based on a digital scan of the image, part of this content was edited or generated using Google AI. […] The analysis indicates the presence of a SynthID watermark.”

Upon closer inspection, Soch Fact Check also noticed in the image a smartly-placed screenshot of the X account @1TheATeam1’s profile, which we subsequently scoured to see when it posted the visual in question.

The earliest instance was shared (archive) at 7:21 pm on 26 December 2025 in response to an X post (archive) by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party of incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been critical of the military for the last few years.

According to the @1TheATeam1’s profile, the account is based in Warsaw, Poland, but its “About” section shows its location in North America.

@1TheATeam1 subsequently posted the same manipulated picture of Munir multiple times over the next few days (archived here, here, and here, respectively) in response to another user, @Kaashif999, who was apparently asking people for their opinion on whether the defence chief was indeed sitting behind a bulletproof glass.

Soch Fact Check, therefore, concludes that the photo in question was manipulated with AI.

Virality

Soch Fact Check found the claim shared here, here, and here on Facebook.

It was also posted here on X by @RealWahidaAFG (archive), an apparent pro-Afghan, anti-Pakistan, and proIndia user who claims to be a “HR [human rights] defender”. We have previously debunked their false claims, while other outlets accredited by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) have also disproved their posts.

The false claim was also amplified by multiple Indian users on social media and different news outlets as has often happened in the past.

Interestingly, users who seem to be PTI-aligned according to past posts, pictures, and descriptions on their accounts also propagated the claim here, here, here, here, and here.

Conclusion: An authentic photo from the 273rd Corps Commanders’ Conference, featuring Field Marshal Asim Munir, was manipulated using Google’s AI tools to depict him sitting behind bulletproof glass.
