Claim: A video circulating on social media claims to show Kasim Khan, the son of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that he and his brother will join politics in Pakistan if their father is assassinated.

Fact: The claim is false. The video is a deepfake and was created with artificial intelligence (AI). The original interview does not include any such statements from Kasim Khan, and there are no media reports on it as well.

On 20 December 2025, a Facebook account posted a reel with the caption:
“Kasim Khan warns of entering active politics in Pakistan if their father is harmed.”
The video shows Sky News journalist Yalda Hakim talking to Imran Khan’s son, Kasim Khan, about Khan’s time in prison. The transcription of the video in the claim is as follows:
Yalda Hakim: “If you do see him, what are you likely to say, and do you think that you would say, ‘Look, you’ve spent this time in prison’? You’ve done your time, you know; perhaps look at cutting a deal?”
Kasim Khan: “I’ve heard that they may kill our father. If that happens, we have both decided that we will go back to Pakistan and start active politics to avenge what they did to him.

Imran Khan’s jail cell/prison conditions

On 20 December 2025, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were sentenced to 17 years in prison in the Toshakhana-II case. Earlier this month, on 12 December 2025, the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Alice Jill Edwards, issued a formal statement warning that Khan’s conditions, including solitary confinement for 23 hours a day in a small cell without natural light, could amount to “inhuman or degrading treatment” or even torture.
Since November 2025, according to media reports, Khan has allegedly been denied family visits. His sons publicly voiced concerns about his health during this time; however, government spokesperson Mosharraf Zaidi rejected these claims, asserting that Khan is in good health and has met with his sisters and legal team since August 2023.

Khan remains incarcerated since August 2023. Despite several acquittals, he remains in custody due to a mounting list of cases against him. Earlier in January 2025, he was sentenced to 14 years in the Al-Qadir University Project Trust case.

Fact or Fiction?
Soch Fact Check investigated the video and found visual inconsistencies commonly observed in AI-generated videos.  Several indicators suggested this video is particularly a deepfake, likely created with AI tools:

  • Lip-Sync Issues: When Kasim Khan speaks, the movement of the lips does not perfectly align with the words being spoken. The mouth movements also appear slightly blurred or unnatural compared to the rest of the face.
  • Stiff Movements: His facial expressions and body language appear somewhat rigid or “robotic,” which is a common characteristic of AI-generated content.
  • Audio Quality: His voice has a consistent, slightly flat tone that is often associated with AI voice cloning.

Furthermore, we also ran the clip through multiple AI detection tools.

Deepfake-O-Meter, an initiative of the University at Buffalo, indicated a high probability that it was AI-generated. Nine out of twelve algorithms yielded scores above 50% (as shown below), which confirmed it is fake.

Deepfake-O-Meter results

Another tool, DeepFake Total, detected 29.9% AI-generated material. The graph shows that after the 11-second mark, the element of AI manipulation is higher. At this point in the viral video, Kasim Khan is seen speaking about returning to Pakistan and participating in active politics if his father were to be killed.

The spike suggests that while the question posed by Yalda Hakim is authentic, the response has been altered.

Soch Fact Check then conducted a keyword search on YouTube with “Yalda Hakim, Imran Khan’s sons,” which led to an interview uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Sky News on 17 December 2025. The interview, titled “He’s being held in a death cell: Imran Khan’s sons tell Yalda Hakim of fears for ex-PM’s life”, shows journalist Yalda Hakim speaking with Khan’s sons, Kasim and Sulaiman Khan, about their concerns over their father’s treatment in prison.

At the 4:53-second mark of the video, Yalda Hakim can be seen asking the same question as in the viral video. However, Kasim’s response in the original interview is entirely different from the version in the viral clip.

The transcription of the interview from this moment is as follows:

[4:53] Yalda Hakim: “What do you say to him? Do you say to him, ‘Look, is it worth it? We’re here in London, we’re safe, you can come and be with us; just cut a deal and come out?”

[5:02] Kasim Khan: “What you have to understand is it’s his life. It’s literally his passion and his goal. He calls it his life’s purpose to help rid Pakistan of corruption. And so, if he just took a deal and came over to us, and lived in England, I know there would be this burning desire and this aching that he has left his country for dead. And he would be depressed, to be honest. I know he would. This is his goal. As much as we’d love to have our father watching all of our cricket matches or football matches over here, he has a far greater purpose. So you can only respect it.”

Therefore, Soch Fact Check’s investigation into the video reveals that the snippet of Kasim Khan’s interview in the claim is a deepfake.

Virality

The viral clip was shared by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan accounts on X and Facebook.
It can be seen here, here, and here on X, and here on TikTok.
It was also shared here, here, and here on Facebook, and here on Instagram.

Conclusion: A video claiming to show Imran Khan’s son, Kasim Khan, saying that he would return to Pakistan and join politics if his father were killed is a deepfake. The original interview contains no such claim and part of the interview is altered.
