On 22 April 2025, Express Tribune published an article titled “Iffat Omar appointed Punjab’s cultural adviser,” which claimed that the actress has been appointed cultural adviser to the Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, attributing the information to an official notification. It further claims that this has been done so that Omar can work with the ministry to “design and implement programs aimed at promoting and preserving the province’s cultural heritage.”
The article further states that Omar has been given an office at the Alhamra Cultural Complex in Lahore. Iffat Omar, also known as Iffat Rahim, is a prominent Pakistani actress, model, host, and activist with a career spanning over three decades.
Fact or Fiction?
Iffat Omar has publicly rejected the claim and clarified that although an offer was extended to her, she refused to accept it. However, despite her clarifications, the false information has continued to spread.
On 22 April 2025, she posted a tweet, quoting the claim, she clarified that although she is grateful for Punjab government’s consideration of appointing her as a cultural adviser, after putting some thought into it, she has chosen to decline the offer.
On the same day, she posted another tweet, referencing the claim:
“Ab kiya app chatien gay???I have humbly declined the offer so plz it’s your turn to do the same.And I have declined it few weeks back the news surfaced now.Apni nafrat Mie itnna bhi na girien”
[Translation: What do you want??? I have humbly declined the offer so please it is your turn to do the same. And I declined it a few weeks back, but the news has surfaced now. Don’t stoop so low in your hatred.”
It is clear that Omar has issued a public clarification, confirming that the claim is false, however, social media users continue to share the false information regarding her appointment.
